A quick and dirty whale label system with numbers to match.

Credit this is a rewrite of the existing whale detector by HK.

I became frustrated with the wonderful detail, but lack of data. So a kit bash version was born.

🐋 **Oil Whale Indicator – Institutional Activity Detection**

The **Oil Whale Indicator** is designed to highlight potential **large participant activity (“whales”)** within crude oil markets by analyzing abnormal behavior in price and volume structures. These signals can help traders identify moments where **institutional liquidity may be entering or exiting the market**.

This tool works best when used on **high-liquidity instruments**, where large participants are most active.

### Recommended Markets

Many TradingView users begin with the default **USOIL** ticker. While this can provide a useful reference, deeper analysis is typically available through **CME / NYMEX WTI futures**, such as:

• **NYMEX:CL1!** – Continuous front-month WTI crude futures
• **NYMEX:MCL1!** – Micro WTI futures (scaled contract)

These markets tend to reflect **stronger institutional participation and liquidity**, which improves the reliability of whale-style signal detection.

### Important Notes

Smaller brokerage feeds can sometimes return **limited volume data**, which may reduce the accuracy of large-order detection. For this reason, comparing signals across **multiple data feeds or futures markets** can provide better confirmation.

### Upcoming Improvements

A more advanced **strategy readout and statistics table** will be added as development time permits. Future updates may also include expanded analytics and additional tools for evaluating whale activity.
