A human in minds yesterday proposed what I dub the '86 gap-fill hypothesis' for
WTI (~86.1 - 86.6), which suggests price action will decline to fill the gap (see green highlighted section) and then revert to ascending continuation of bullishness.
I found their idea compelling and these gaps do tend to get filled, sometimes not completely so enter wisely if you desire, and note their may be stop-loss hunting if the idea to buy the gap is prevalent. If they and I thought this, 1,000s of others are also aware... be safe!
Finally, adding further support to their hypothesis is that the RSI on the 2h chart is not yet displaying negative divergence. While not infallible, I find ± divergence a fairly reliable pivot point indicator.
Hypothesis invalidated if the 2h candle closes outside the outer lower-bound channel line.
I main an estimated 70% confidence in the 86 gap fill hypothesis being supported by today's price data.
