ADX Gradient [Gabremoku]

483
ADX Gradient is a directional strength indicator built on Wilder's classic ADX, enhanced with a smooth multi-stage color gradient that makes it immediately clear how strong the current trend is — no thresholds to memorize, just read the color.

How it works

The ADX line changes color dynamically based on its current value, following a logical progression from neutral to extreme:

🔘 < 15 — Gray: no trend, range-bound market

🟢 15–25 — Green gradient: trend forming / confirmed

🔵 25–45 — Blue gradient: trend developing

🟠 45–55 — Orange: strong trend

🔴 55+ — Red / bright red: extreme trend strength

Features

Wilder ADX with customizable length and smoothing period

Smooth gradient coloring across 7 strength zones

Optional DI+ / DI− lines for directional context

Colored dashed reference bands at levels 20, 30, 50 and 60

Colored fill bands between levels for quick visual reading

Built-in alert conditions on ADX crossing 20, 30, and 50

How to use

Use this indicator alongside your existing strategy to gauge trend quality. A rising ADX in green/blue suggests a healthy trend worth following. Orange and red zones signal a potentially exhausted or overextended move — use with caution. When ADX is gray and falling, prefer range or mean-reversion setups.

Settings

ADX Length: lookback period for True Range and DM smoothing (default: 14)

ADX Smoothing: RMA smoothing period for the final ADX line (default: 14)

Show DI+ / DI−: toggle directional indicator lines on/off

ADX Gradient Regime [Gabremoku] — Update Report

Reworked the indicator into a more complete trend regime tool instead of a simple ADX gradient.

Added explicit regime classification: Range, Forming, Confirmed, Strong, and Extreme.

Added DI dominance logic to separate bullish pressure, bearish pressure, and neutral conditions.

Added ADX slope evaluation to distinguish rising, falling, and flat strength.

Added a configurable dashboard with selectable position for immediate reading on chart.

Added last-value labels for ADX, DI+ and DI-.

Improved alert structure for ADX threshold crosses and DI cross events.

Refactored the code to improve stability and readability, while keeping the original visual identity.

Update Notes —

Two quality-of-life improvements in this update, both based on feedback from the community.

Dashboard resize control

Several of you asked for the ability to control the dashboard text size — especially when using this indicator on smaller panels or alongside multiple oscillators. The dashboard now supports three text size options: Tiny, Small, and Normal, selectable directly from the Dashboard settings group. The position can also be changed as before.

Last value label overlap fix

When ADX, DI+, and DI- values were close to each other, the last-value labels on the right side of the chart could overlap and become unreadable. The label placement logic now enforces a minimum gap between the three labels, spreading them vertically to keep all three readable at all times. The minimum gap is also configurable from the Style settings, so you can tune it to match your chart layout.

Both changes are panel-configurable and do not affect the core calculation logic.
