Gold prices traded in a volatile range with overall weak momentum throughout this week, pressured by elevated US Treasury yields and uncertain Fed policy expectations. The market remained stuck in a tug-of-war between macro bearish factors and safe-haven support, lacking a clear unilateral trend and featuring frequent long-short switches and sharp pullbacks.
On the macro front, persistent high bond yields increased the holding cost of non-interest-bearing gold assets, continuously capping upside rebound space. Meanwhile, cautious market liquidity sentiment prevented bulls from launching a strong breakout. Although geopolitical instability provided intermittent safe-haven support for gold, the supportive momentum was short-lived and failed to drive a sustained rally, resulting in a repeated range-bound trend.
In terms of technical movements, gold fluctuated frequently around key support levels of 4480-4500 and the secondary strong support at 4450 this week. The price repeatedly tested these lower support ranges during intraday declines, with downside momentum gradually weakening after continuous dips, while the key resistance zone of 4580-4600 remained solid, restricting short-term rebound height.
In line with the market characteristics of volatile oscillation, our weekly trading strategy focused on band trading and long-short flexible switching, adapting stably to market swing trends. We arranged short position operations in the early trading session to follow the downside market momentum. Later, we planned a long entry near the key support zone of 4480-4500, which was temporarily stopped out by market short-term volatility. Instead of blindly chasing trends, we waited patiently for further price retracements toward the secondary support level at 4450.
After gold fully released its downside momentum and dipped near the 4450 secondary support level, we grasped the low-point rebound timing to arrange long positions again. This counter-trend low-entry trade perfectly avoided early false signals and responded accurately to the intraday rebound rhythm. All intraday trades were closed smoothly, with all intraday operations completed in line with preset trading rules.
Overall, this week’s market was dominated by volatile consolidation without a clear trend. Our trading logic always adhered to the core of following support and resistance levels, controlling position sizes, and responding flexibly to market fluctuations. We avoided the risks of blind chasing and reverse trading, maintained stable and standardized weekly trading operations through disciplined band operation and patient waiting for high-quality trading signals.
