Cybersecurity is back on the radar. Cyberattacks have climbed throughout October 2026, and attackers are using agentic AI to breach corporate defenses faster. That could push financial institutions, governments, and large companies to raise security budgets, giving the sector a different narrative from AI infrastructure names, which have been under pressure.
The setup
Cloudflare (NET) is one of four cybersecurity names that screened as attractive on technical factors for the short term. We are looking at a buy on trendline support, entering once a bounce begins rather than catching a falling price.
Trade levels
Buy zone: $296 to $310
Stop-loss: $276
Target: $362
From the midpoint of the buy zone ($303), the stop risks about $27 per share (roughly 9%) for a potential gain of about $59 (roughly 19%). That is a reward-to-risk ratio of about 2.2:1. Entering nearer $296 improves the ratio to about 3.3:1. Entering nearer $310 reduces it to about 1.5:1, so entry price matters here.
Why the fundamentals support the story
Management guidance targets revenue growth of about 32%, the most aggressive among the cybersecurity stocks we reviewed
Operating margin target of 15% to 16%
Current remaining performance obligations (RPO), which measure contracted revenue yet to be recognized, grew 35%
Large-customer growth reached 27%
Free cash flow was $140.5 million in the first half of 2026, even though the company is still reporting a GAAP net loss. Upfront subscription payments bring cash in before revenue is recognized, and GAAP earnings include non-cash items such as stock-based compensation and amortization.
Key caveat
Cloudflare does not break out its Workers developer platform from its cybersecurity business. That makes it hard to tell exactly what is driving growth, so the cybersecurity theme may be only part of the story.
What would change the view
A close below the $276 stop-loss would invalidate the setup. If price does not bounce from support, patience is better than forcing an entry.
