Eye RSI Thermometer [EyeAlgo]

3 723
Eye RSI Thermometer [EyeAlgo] turns RSI into a simple two-colour cycle that you read straight from the price candles. When RSI touches 70, a bull cycle starts and every candle stays green until RSI touches 30. When RSI touches 30, a bear cycle starts and every candle stays red until RSI touches 70. There is no separate RSI pane. Instead, a small "thermometer" HUD next to the last candle shows where RSI is, how old the cycle is, and how the last cycles ended.

Why a cycle and not just overbought / oversold?
Most RSI candle scripts colour a candle only while RSI is above 70 or below 30. In between, the candles go back to normal, so a strong trend looks "neutral" most of the time. This script keeps the colour from one extreme touch until the opposite extreme touch. The question it answers is not "is RSI high right now?" but "which side won the last extreme, and has the other side taken over yet?"

What is different in this script
▶ Latched cycle: the candle colour flips only when RSI touches the opposite level, so every bar belongs to one bull or bear cycle.
▶ Whole candle in cycle colour: body, wick and border are painted with bright colours, so the cycle is easy to see on light and dark themes.
▶ Weakening shade: if RSI crosses 50 against the cycle (below 50 in a bull cycle, above 50 in a bear cycle), the candles turn lighter. The cycle has not flipped, but momentum has faded.
▶ Flip price: the script solves the RSI formula backwards and draws the price at which the next close would make RSI touch the opposite level.
▶ Cycle HUD on the chart instead of a table: an RSI thermometer, a cycle-age battery and a barcode of the last cycles (up to 12).
▶ Cycle statistics from your own chart: how many bull and bear cycles ended in their favour, and the average move in ATR.
▶ Latched RSI colouring and reverse-RSI maths are known ideas. What this script adds is the next-bar flip price drawn on the price chart, the per-cycle in-sample stats, and the on-chart HUD (thermometer, age battery, last-cycles barcode) that replaces the RSI pane.
▶ The code is written from scratch and is fully open.

How it works
1. RSI. Standard Wilder RSI (RMA of gains and losses) on your chosen source, length 14 by default.
2. Cycle state. RSI at or above "Bull cycle starts when RSI touches" (70) = bull cycle. RSI at or below "Bear cycle starts when RSI touches" (30) = bear cycle. The state stays until the opposite level is touched. Before the first touch the candles keep your normal chart colours and the HUD shows WAITING.
3. Cycle start. On the bar that starts a new cycle, the script stores the close and the ATR (14) of that bar. A "Bull cycle" / "Bear cycle" label is placed on the chart and a dotted "Cycle start" line marks that price.
4. Flip price. From the current RSI averages, the script calculates how far the next close must move so that RSI reaches the opposite level. It is shown as a dashed "Bear flip ≈" or "Bull flip ≈" line. It is an estimate for the next bar only. It is calculated on the Source input, so it is an exact close price only when Source = close (the default).
5. Cycle stats. When a cycle ends, its move is measured from the start close to the close of the bar where the next cycle starts, divided by the start ATR. A cycle "ended in favour" if that move is positive in the cycle direction (up for bull, down for bear). The cycle that is still running is not counted.

Reading the Cycle HUD
▶ Header: "EYE RSI THERMOMETER · BULL ▲ / BEAR ▼ / WAITING" in the cycle colour.
▶ Thermometer: a vertical bar from 0 to 100. The green zone is above the bull level, the red zone is below the bear level. The fill runs from 50 to the current RSI, and a marker shows "RSI 63.2". "· weak" is added when the weakening shade is active.
▶ Cycle age battery: 10 cells = the average length of past cycles of the same side. The cells fill as the current cycle gets older. When the cycle is longer than the average, the cells turn orange and the text says "overdue". This only means "longer than usual", not "about to end".
▶ MOVE: the move since the cycle start in % and in ATR. BEST: the largest move in the cycle direction so far (high for bull, low for bear), in ATR.
▶ FLIP: the flip price and how far it is from the last close in ATR.
▶ LAST N CYCLES (up to 12): one small bar per finished cycle, oldest on the left. A solid bar above the line = that cycle ended in its favour, a faded bar below the line = it ended against. Green = bull cycle, red = bear cycle, bar height = size of the move (capped at 3 ATR).
▶ Bottom line: "Bull ...% in favour" and "Bear ...% in favour" with the average ATR move, marked in-sample.
Prefer a table? Set "Dashboard style" to "Classic table" for a corner table with the main values (no battery or barcode), or to "Off".

What the stats showed in testing
On OANDA:XAUUSD 30m with default settings (checked 30 Oct 2026), the HUD showed: bull cycles 49% in favour with an average of +2.1 ATR, bear cycles 29% in favour with an average of -1.2 ATR.
These numbers are in-sample, measured on the bars loaded on the chart, before spread and commission. They are not a trade result and not a performance expectation. Your numbers will be different on other symbols, timeframes and settings.

How to use
▶ Use the candle colour as a bias filter: in a bull cycle look for longs with your own method, in a bear cycle look for shorts, or stay out.
▶ Watch the lighter shade. Light green candles = the bull cycle is still on, but RSI has slipped below 50.
▶ Watch the flip line. It shows how much room is left before the cycle changes on the next bar.
▶ Use the cycle age battery to see if a cycle is young or already longer than usual.
▶ Test the levels and timeframe on your own instrument before you rely on anything. Every market behaves differently.

How to change settings (Quick guide)
▶ Fewer, slower cycles: raise "Bull cycle starts when RSI touches" (for example 75) and lower "Bear cycle starts when RSI touches" (for example 25), or raise "RSI Length".
▶ More, faster cycles: move the levels toward 50 (for example 65 / 35) or lower "RSI Length".
▶ Candles look too busy: switch off "Lighter shade when RSI crosses 50 against the cycle", or switch off "Colour price candles by cycle" and keep only the HUD.
▶ HUD too close to the candles: raise "HUD distance from last candle (bars)" and give the chart a larger right margin.
▶ Price lines too far away: lower "Hide price lines farther than (x ATR)".

Settings by group
RSI Cycle: "Source", "RSI Length", "Bull cycle starts when RSI touches", "Bear cycle starts when RSI touches".
Candles & Colours: "Colour price candles by cycle", "Lighter shade when RSI crosses 50 against the cycle", "Bull cycle", "Bear cycle", "Waiting (before first touch)".
Price Chart: "Cycle start labels", "Labels kept on chart", "Cycle start price line", "Flip price line (RSI touches the other level next bar)", "Hide price lines farther than (x ATR)".
Dashboard: "Dashboard style" (Cycle HUD (on chart), Classic table, Off), "HUD distance from last candle (bars)", "Table position", "Table text size".

Alerts
Three alert conditions: "Bull cycle start", "Bear cycle start", "Any cycle change". The script also sends one alert() message on bar close with the ticker, timeframe, cycle side, RSI and close price. Pick either the alert conditions or the "Any alert() function call" option, so you do not get two messages for the same bar. Choose "Once Per Bar Close" for the alert conditions.

Live or on bar close?
▶ Labels and alerts are confirmed on bar close only.
▶ The candle colour, HUD, table and price lines update live while the bar is forming. On the open bar RSI can touch a level and the colour can change, then change back before the bar closes.

Notes and limits
▶ The HUD is drawn to the right of the last candle, about 3 ATR above and below the last close. Keep some right margin on the chart so it does not sit on top of new candles.
▶ The flip price is an estimate for the next bar only. A gap or a fast candle can jump past it.
▶ The flip line and the cycle start line are hidden when they are farther than "Hide price lines farther than (x ATR)" from the last close.
▶ Stats depend on how many bars are loaded, so they change with symbol, timeframe and history length.
▶ RSI cycles lag price. A cycle starts only after RSI has reached the extreme, so part of the move has already happened.
▶ If a cycle starts in the first 14 bars of history, ATR is not ready yet, so that cycle shows "—" for MOVE and is left out of the stats.
▶ This script does not place trades.

FAQ
Why is my candle not green although RSI is 60? Because the cycle is still bear until RSI touches the bull level (70 by default). That is the point of the cycle.
Can I use 50 as the level? The bull level can go down to 50 and the bear level up to 50, but then it becomes a simple above/below-50 colour and the cycle idea is lost.
Does it repaint? Closed candles, labels and stats do not change. Only the open bar can change until it closes.

Информация о релизе
Update 30 Oct 2026
▶ Flip and cycle-start price text now sits above its line and ends before the HUD, so nothing overlaps the HUD.
▶ The current RSI value moved into the HUD header ("· RSI xx.x", plus "weak" when active). A small "◀" marks the RSI level on the thermometer.
▶ The flip distance and the hide-limit are now measured from the Source input (the close by default).
▶ The last-cycles barcode now uses the same rule as the "% in favour" count (a move of exactly 0 is not counted as in favour).
▶ The table shows "—" when ATR is not ready yet, and "LAST CYCLES —" appears before any cycle has finished.
▶ Candle colouring now uses bar colour only (cleaner on Heikin Ashi and similar chart types). RSI now matches the built-in RSI exactly, and the table no longer causes a runtime error on live bars.
Информация о релизе
The corner table is now created only in Classic table mode. Chart preview updated so the full HUD is visible.
