Koda 30% Stop Overlay

How to Use

What This Indicator Does
The Koda 30% Stop Overlay takes the daily volatility (ATRD) and converts it into real, actionable levels directly on your price chart.
Instead of guessing where your stop should go, it automatically plots:
• Session Open (Asian / London / New York)
• Upper 30% ATRD level
• Lower 30% ATRD level
These levels act as a volatility-based risk framework, helping you place stops that are aligned with how the market actually moves.

How to Use It (Step-by-Step)
1. Add It to Your Main Chart
• This script must be applied to the candle chart
• Not in a separate panel
You should immediately see lines appear at session opens
________________________________________
2. Choose Your Active Sessions
Enable or disable:
• Asian
• London
• New York
Most traders focus on:
• London + New York for futures
• All 3 for forex
________________________________________
3. Identify the Session Open
At the start of each session:
• A horizontal line is drawn at the open price
This becomes your anchor point
________________________________________
4. Read the 30% Stop Bands
Two lines are automatically plotted:
• Upper Band = Session Open + 30% ATRD
• Lower Band = Session Open – 30% ATRD
Example:
• ATRD = 300 points
• 30% = 90 points
If NY opens at 15,000:
• Upper = 15,090
• Lower = 14,910
These levels represent a minimum realistic stop distance
________________________________________
5. Use It for Stop Placement
Before entering a trade:
Ask:
• Is my stop inside the 30% range? → ❌ Too tight
• Is my stop outside or aligned with it? → ✅ Valid
This prevents getting stopped out by normal volatility
________________________________________
6. Use It for Trade Context
The bands also tell you:
• If price is still within normal movement
• If price is expanding beyond the expected range
• If the move is overextended
________________________________________
7. Combine With Your Setup
Best used with:
• liquidity sweeps
• structure breaks
• VWAP
• session highs/lows
The overlay doesn’t give entries — it protects execution
________________________________________
How Traders Should Use This
Before every trade:
• Where is the session open?
• Where is 30% ATRD?
• Is my stop realistic for current volatility?
• Am I trading into expansion or exhaustion?
________________________________________
What Makes This Different From Other ATR Indicators
1. It Translates ATR Into Real Price Levels
Most ATR indicators:
• just show a number
Koda Overlay:
• converts ATR into visible lines on the chart
You don’t calculate — you see it instantly
________________________________________
2. It Anchors to Session Opens
Standard ATR:
• ignores when volatility actually happens
This tool:
• resets at:
o Asian open
o London open
o New York open
You get session-based risk levels, not generic ones
________________________________________
3. It Uses the 30% Rule (Execution-Based)
Most ATR tools:
• don’t tell you what to do with the number
This one:
• gives a clear, actionable rule:
o ~30% ATRD = minimum stop range
It bridges the gap between indicator → decision
________________________________________
4. Built for Intraday Traders
Standard ATR:
• is often used for swing trading
Koda Overlay:
• is built specifically for:
o scalping
o intraday execution
o session-based trading
It works with how you actually trade
________________________________________
5. Adapts to Any Market Automatically
• Futures (MGC, NQ, GC, MNQ)
• Forex (XAU/USD)
• Crypto
• Stocks
Always uses the symbol’s own daily volatility
________________________________________
Core Concept
“Your stop shouldn’t be based on what you’re willing to lose —
it should be based on what the market normally moves.”
________________________________________
Bottom Line
• ATRD tells you how far price moves
• Session open tells you where movement starts
• 30% Rule tells you how much room you need
This indicator turns all three into clear, visual execution levels.
