GBPJPY: Resistance at 217.00 Stalls Upward Momentum

Following several consecutive sessions of gains, GBPJPY has approached the psychological resistance level of 217.00—an area that has previously triggered selling pressure on multiple occasions. While the medium-term uptrend remains intact, buying momentum is showing signs of stalling as the price faces repeated rejection upon approaching this barrier.

Beyond technical factors, the Japanese yen is finding support amid market expectations that Japanese officials will closely monitor exchange rate movements and stand ready to intervene should volatility become excessive. This raises the likelihood of capital flowing back into the JPY in the short term.

If GBPJPY fails to break above 217.00 and loses its uptrend line, a corrective pullback to 215.90 is entirely possible before the market establishes its next trend.
