the index saw resistance and fell back yet still i dont buy the idea that it would go straight down from here

Almost there but i don't recommend going short just becuz it goes to 28650.( although that is the case in one of few possible Elliott wave count options)the index could top anywhere from 286xx-289xx. let s see how price reacts there.
