23,300 Hold: Bulls Consolidate 394-Point Gains after a 401-Point Intraday Move

🗞 Nifty Summary

In yesterday’s note, I mentioned that if 23,050 was breached, the first challenge for the bulls would be 23,333. Fortunately, the market did exactly that, opening with a 105-point Gap Up directly above the 23,050 level.

From the very start, the index showed immense strength, with almost no downside from the opening tick and Form OL (Open = Low), Nifty launched a non-stop 368-point rally. During this sprint, it smoothly cleared 23,200, the IBH, 23,333, and the 23,410 levels to reach a high of 23,465.35.

However, the momentum stalled near the 23,400 mark. The index entered a range-bound phase and formed a Double Top pattern at the 23,450 zone. Around 2:00 PM, the breakdown of this pattern was confirmed, and the target was achieved within minutes as selling pressure returned. Nifty eventually settled at 23,306.45, gaining +394.05 points (+1.72%).

A very positive sign for the bulls is that the Daily RSI closed at 40, which is higher than the 38 level I was looking for to confirm the base-building process.

On the flip side, we must remain cautious as the index was unable to hold the higher levels and closed just below the 0.618 Fib (23,333). Given the global uncertainty, I will consider the short-term trend bullish only as long as 22,600 holds on a closing basis.

⚔️ Gladiator Strategy Update

ATR: 464.96

IB Range: 235.05 → Big

Market Structure: Imbalanced

Trade Highlights:

09:20 Long Trade: Target Hit (R:R 1:4.11) (Morning Momentum).

12:50 Short Trade: SL Hit.

13:55 Short Trade: SL Hit.

Trade Summary: Today was a game of two halves for me. I caught a fantastic long move right after the opening bell, which yielded a massive 1:4.11 reward. However, the afternoon was much tougher. I tried to short the market twice as it started to stall, but both attempts resulted in stop-losses. I gave up after those two tries, but watching my expected move eventually happen without me was quite frustrating.

🧱 Support & Resistance Levels

Resistance Zones: 23,410 ~ 23,465 | 23,565 | 23,650

Support Zones: 23,200 | 23,050 | 22,945 | 22,820 ~ 22,800

🧠 Final Thoughts

“The base is building, but the ceiling at 23,333 remains a heavy lid.”

Tomorrow (Thursday) the market will be closed for the Ram Navami Festival.

When we resume on Friday, the opening price will be everything.

If we open inside today’s range, I’ll look at it as a continuation of the trend.

If we open below today’s low, I will be very cautious and wait for the IB to form.

If we manage to gap up above today’s high, I’ll be keeping a very close watch on the 23,565 and 23,840 levels.

Wishing everyone a happy holiday!
