Honestly this is one of the cleaner setups I've seen on gold this week. Price ran the buy-side liquidity sitting above 4,575, swept it clean, then immediately printed a ChoCH on H1 — that was the first signal that smart money was done buying and ready to flip bearish. What followed was a textbook impulsive flush, a hard BOS to the downside, and now we're in that slow grind-back-up phase that pulls latecomers into longs right before the next leg lower. Classic trap.
The bearish Order Block between 4,555 and 4,580 is the exact zone I'm building my plan around. That's where the last up-close candles printed before the impulsive drop — the mitigation target is clear. Current price sitting around 4,515 is still inside a low-volume node on the profile, which tells me this retrace has room to push a little higher before smart money steps back in. I'm not forcing an entry here. I want to see price tap into that 4,555–4,580 window, show me some bearish reaction — a rejection wick, a bearish engulf, anything that confirms sellers are defending — and then I'm in.
First target is 4,460, which lines up with the previous structure and the 0.5 Fibonacci level. If that gives way cleanly, 4,380 is the full extension play and that's where the real sell-side liquidity is resting. The volume profile gap between 4,470 and 4,530 is also telling — price tends to move fast through thin areas like that, so once the move starts I'm not expecting much resistance until 4,460.
DXY on H1 is still showing bullish pressure, which gives clean macro confluence for gold downside. The one thing that kills this idea is a clean hourly close above 4,585 — full reclaim of the OB means I'm wrong and I step aside, no argument.
