As of now, gold has dropped $150 today. We’ve been emphasizing recently: avoid going long above 4350, as a sharp drop could occur at any time — and that expectation has now played out again.
On the news front, sentiment remains bearish. Technically, the recent gap near 4210 is now almost fully filled. Typically, after such a rapid and sharp decline, a minor bounce tends to follow. Beyond the 4210 gap, there is another gap lower down near 4097, but it likely won’t be filled this week — probably next week. If more bearish news emerges over the weekend, the market could continue lower.
Today’s main move is likely over, and the market may enter a consolidation phase. So if you're satisfied with current profits and want to avoid further risk, closing positions now and reassessing tomorrow would be a reasonable approach.
