Gold Analysis June 16 – Gold found support, rallying to around 4367 yesterday after the United States and Iran reached a comprehensive framework agreement to end their conflict, easing inflation fears. However, gold prices subsequently retraced and are now heading toward the 4300 psychological support zone as the market eagerly awaits the Fed's interest rate decision scheduled for Wednesday night.
Bloomberg reported on Monday that U.S. President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance signed an electronic memorandum with Iran. Trump noted that the Strait of Hormuz has been "partially opened" and "will be fully opened" by Friday. Following the framework agreement, expectations of a Federal Reserve rate hike cooled, providing a boost to gold, a non-yielding asset. According to the CME FedWatch Tool, traders have lowered the probability of a U.S. rate hike in December to 58%, down from nearly 70% last week.
