What happened to the short idea
This morning's plan was a short from the 4,080–4,095 supply zone – conditional on price rotating UP into that area first. It never happened. After the BOC releases and the Warsh testimony, gold rejected lower instead of tagging the zone. The condition was never met, so no trade was taken. The idea is officially dead, documented here as promised.
One thing survives from the morning analysis: the unfilled FVG at ~4,080. It still hasn't been rebalanced – it just changes its role in the new plan.
The new setup – long side
The post-news selloff is driving price toward the 4,013 area, and that zone matters for one reason: liquidity. Every late long from today's range has stops resting below current structure. Markets routinely sweep those pools before reversing – the flush creates the fuel for the move up.
So the plan is not to buy 4,013 on first touch. The plan is to let the sweep happen and enter on the reclaim:
Entry: ~4,013.5 – only after a sweep below and a reclaim of the zone on 30M
Stop: ~4,000 – a clean break and hold below invalidates the demand thesis entirely
TP1: ~4,048 – mid-range of today's structure
TP2: ~4,080 – the still-unfilled FVG, now acting as a magnet from below instead of a sell zone
R:R: ~1:2.6 to TP1, ~1:4.9 to TP2
Invalidation & no-trade scenario
Two ways this produces no position: price bounces before ever sweeping 4,013 (no sweep = no entry), or price breaks 4,000 and holds below (thesis wrong, stand aside). Both outcomes are acceptable. Chasing is not.
Why the flip is consistent, not contradictory
Same map, different route. This morning the FVG at 4,080 was resistance to sell from above; now it's the target to reach from below. The levels never changed – only the path price chose to approach them. Reacting to structure beats defending a forecast.
The plan before. The truth after.
Not financial advice – personal plan only, manage your own risk.
