⬛ Strong Risk Management — Complete User Guide

A step-by-step manual for the Strong Risk Management TradingView indicator: how to install it, place your trade, read both panels and the chart, understand every number, and run it for crypto, futures, forex, and prop-firm accounts.

◼️ 1. What this tool is (in one minute)

Strong Risk Management is a pre-trade cockpit. You click your Entry, Stop, and up to three Take-Profits onto the chart, and it instantly answers:

How big? — the exact position size so a full stop-out loses precisely the amount you chose to risk (fees included).
How safe? — your leverage, required margin, estimated liquidation price, and how far liquidation sits beyond your stop.
Is it worth taking? — a blended Reward:Risk verdict, a 0–10 setup-quality score, and a full take-profit breakdown.
Does it pass my rules? — for funded/challenge traders, a live check against daily loss, max drawdown, profit target, consistency, and per-trade risk limits.

Everything is computed live from your inputs and the symbol's real tick size. Nothing is hard-coded.

◼️ 2. Installation

Open TradingView and go to Pine Editor (bottom panel).
Delete any sample code, paste the full Strong_Risk_Management.pine script.
Click Save, then Add to chart.
The script is built for any timeframe — it draws on whatever chart you have open. (A 5m–1h chart is usually easiest for placing precise levels.)

Tip: After it's on the chart, click the indicator name → the settings gear to open all inputs.

◼️ 3. The click-to-place flow (read this first)

Because Entry, Stop, the three Take-Profits, and the Anchor are interactive inputs, the very first time you add the script TradingView puts you in placement mode and asks you to click the chart for each one, in this order:

Anchor Time — click the bar where you want the trade box to start (the left edge of the zones).
Entry Price — click your entry level.
Stop Loss — click your stop level.
TP1 Price — click your first target.
TP2 Price — click your second target.
TP3 Price — click your third target.

After placement, every level is draggable — grab any line and move it; the whole panel recalculates instantly.

▪️ Manual targets vs. Auto targets

Any TP you click or drag (price > 0) is always used. This is "manual" mode and behaves exactly like Entry/Stop.
Auto targets: if you want TP1/TP2/TP3 placed automatically at clean 1R / 2R / 3R distances, open settings and set that TP's price to 0. With Auto Take-Profits enabled (default), any TP left at 0 is auto-filled from the R multiples in the Take-Profit Plan group.

So: click to place them yourself, or zero them out and let the R-multiples do it. Mix freely (e.g. manual TP1, auto TP2/TP3).

▪️ Direction

Direction = Auto infers Long if your stop is below entry, Short if above. You can force Long or Short in settings.

◼️ 4. Quick start — your first trade in 60 seconds

Set Account Balance (e.g. 10000).
Set Risk Model = % of Balance, Risk % = 1.
Place Entry and Stop on the chart.
Leave TP1/TP2/TP3 = 0 to auto-place them at 1R/2R/3R (or click your own).
Read Panel 1 for size, leverage, liquidation, and quality; read Panel 2 for the reward and prop checks.
Adjust until the Reward:Risk line and Setup Quality look acceptable, then place the trade with your broker using the Contracts / Size, leverage, and stop shown.

◼️ 6. The three leverage modes (important)

This is where many position-size tools oversimplify. You pick the model that matches how you actually trade:
Isolated Capital — you commit a fixed amount of margin (Trade Capital Allocated). The position size is set by your risk and stop; leverage is then derived as position value ÷ margin. This mirrors how crypto isolated-margin trades behave and is the default.
Fixed Leverage — you set the leverage multiplier directly (e.g. 10×). Required margin = position value ÷ leverage. Use this when your platform locks you to a chosen leverage.
Auto-Safe Leverage — the tool calculates the highest leverage that still keeps your liquidation price beyond your stop by the safety buffer you set. This is the "never get liquidated before my stop" mode. Lower the Safety Factor for a bigger buffer.
In all modes the panel shows Effective Trade Leverage (position ÷ margin) and Account Leverage (position ÷ total balance), plus the estimated liquidation price.

◼️ 7. Reading Panel 1 — Risk Console

The header shows LONG or SHORT. Then, top to bottom:

◼️ 8. Reading Panel 2 — Prop Guardrails + Take-Profit Plan

▪️ Guardrails (top)

Header shows your phase and an overall status (the worst of all checks). Each rule row shows the rule, this trade's impact, and a SAFE / CAUTION / VIOLATION light:

Daily Loss — this trade's risk as a share of your daily limit; Daily Budget Left shows remaining cash and how many trades like this fit.
Max DD — same, against your overall/trailing drawdown; Max DD Buffer Left shows remaining room.
Risk/Trade ≤ X% — checks your risk % against the firm's per-trade cap.
Liq. Safety — your liquidation buffer (must be comfortably > 1×).
Consistency ≤ X% — whether this trade's profit is too large a share of the target.
Profit Target — cash target and how many trades at this plan to reach it.

▪️ Take-Profit Plan (bottom)

ColumnMeaningLEVELTPx and its allocation %.PRICE · RTarget price and its reward multiple in R.FULL / SLICECash if you closed 100% there, vs. cash your allocation actually books.◉ PLAN PROFITBlended R and total cash + ROI on margin if all targets hit.↔ REWARD : RISKThe verdict line: 1 : x with EXCELLENT / GOOD / MARGINAL / POOR.Risk-free @TP1Cash locked at TP1, confirming that trailing the stop to break-even removes remaining downside.

Why FULL ≠ SLICE: SLICE is smaller because each target only closes part of the position (e.g. 50/30/20). FULL is what that level would pay if you closed everything there. Comparing the two stops the "$100 stop vs $40 TP" confusion — they're different position fractions at different distances.

◼️ 9. Reading the chart

Yellow/amber solid line — Entry, with a directional label.
Red dashed line — Stop Loss, labelled with %, and cash risk.
Green dotted lines — TP1/TP2/TP3, each labelled with allocation %, R, and cash.
Dim amber dotted line — Break-even (after fees).
Red dashed line (far) — Estimated liquidation, with a "before stop" warning if dangerous.
Zones (bands): green = profit zone (entry→TP3), red/maroon = loss zone (entry→stop), darker red = liquidation-danger band (stop→liquidation), amber = runner zone beyond TP3.
Live Tracker label — once price reaches entry, shows floating P&L, then a final ✓ TARGET HIT or ✘ STOPPED OUT. It never hides a loss, and same-bar ambiguity resolves to the stop (pessimistic).

◼️ 10. How the numbers are calculated (for trust)

Risk amount = balance × risk% (or trade-capital × risk%, or your fixed cash).
Position size is solved so that price loss + entry fee + exit fee = your risk:
qty = risk ÷ (stop_distance + entry × entry_fee + stop × exit_fee).
Position value (notional) = qty × entry.
Maintenance margin = notional × maintenance rate.
Liquidation (isolated) ≈ entry ∓ (margin − maintenance margin) ÷ qty (∓ = below for long, above for short).
Liquidation buffer = liquidation distance ÷ stop distance. Above 1× means the stop is hit first (good).
Break-even = entry ± entry × (entry_fee + exit_fee).
TP profit (slice) = qty × alloc% × target_distance − that slice's entry & exit fees.
Blended R = total plan profit ÷ risk amount. This is the headline reward number.
Setup Quality (0–10) blends reward quality, risk-per-trade discipline, liquidation safety, and prop-rule headroom (weights 30/30/20/20).

Because the size is solved with fees in it, a full stop-out equals your stated risk to the cent.

◼️ 11. Worked examples

▪️ A. A clean long (good setup)

Balance $10,000, risk 1% ($100), Entry 4080.134, Stop 4040.370 (≈0.97%), TPs auto at 1R/2R/3R, alloc 50/30/20.

Size ≈ 2.30 contracts, notional ≈ $9,397.
Max loss at stop = $100.
TP plan books slices that sum to ≈ $147, blended ≈ 1.47R → REWARD:RISK 1 : 1.47 (GOOD).
Each target sits beyond the stop in R terms, so the math rewards you for the risk taken.

▪️ B. Targets inside the stop (the trap)

Entry 4047.372, Stop 4240.878 (≈4.78%), but TP1/TP2/TP3 only ~1.5%–4.0% away (0.3R / 0.6R / 0.8R).

Max loss at stop = $100; full plan profit ≈ $49, blended ≈ 0.49R.
REWARD:RISK 1 : 0.49 → POOR ✗ (shown in red).
The tool is correct and the trade is the problem: you're risking 4.78% to make an average ~2.5%. Move targets past the stop distance or tighten the stop.

This is exactly what the Reward:Risk verdict is for — to make a losing-by-design plan obvious before you take it.

◼️ 12. Recommended workflows

Crypto perpetual (isolated margin): Risk Model = % of Balance (0.5–1%), Leverage Mode = Isolated Capital, set Trade Capital = your isolated margin, set realistic taker fees (~0.045%) and the exchange's maintenance rate. Watch the liquidation buffer.
Crypto with a fixed leverage: Leverage Mode = Fixed Leverage, set your chosen multiplier. Confirm the liquidation line stays well beyond the stop.
"Never liquidated before my stop": Leverage Mode = Auto-Safe Leverage, Safety Factor 0.7–0.8. The tool caps leverage for you.
Futures / forex / stocks: Risk Model = Fixed Amount or % of Balance. Fees as commission %. Liquidation is less relevant on low leverage — focus on size, R, and quality.
Prop challenge/funded: Enable Guardrails, enter your firm's exact daily-loss, max-DD, profit-target, per-trade, and consistency rules, plus today's Daily Loss Already Used and Current Drawdown from Peak. Only take trades where the overall status is SAFE and the per-trade risk respects the cap.

◼️ 13. Alerts

The script ships four alert conditions. Create alerts via the Alerts panel → Condition = Strong Risk Management:

Entry Triggered — price reached your entry.
Target Hit — a take-profit target was reached.
Stopped Out — the stop was hit.
Guardrail Violation — the setup breaches a prop rule (overall status = VIOLATION).

◼️ 14. Troubleshooting & FAQ

My TP lines won't move / snap back. A TP is only manual when its price is > 0. Click or drag it to set it; to return it to auto, set the price to 0 in settings. (If an older saved instance behaves oddly, remove and re-add the indicator so it picks up your clicks.)
Stop shows $100 but TP1 shows ~$40 at a similar distance — is the math wrong? No. The stop assumes the full position; each TP only closes a slice (e.g. 50%). Use the FULL / SLICE column to compare like-for-like, and check the REWARD:RISK verdict — if targets sit inside the stop distance, the plan really is sub-1R.
"Liquidation before stop" warning. Your leverage is too high for the stop distance — liquidation would trigger before your stop. Lower leverage, reduce size, or switch to Auto-Safe Leverage.
Panels overlap the chart/price scale. Move them with the Panel 1 / Panel 2 position settings, or set Text Size to Small/Tiny.
Numbers look off by currency. The Quote Currency setting is cosmetic; make sure your fees and maintenance rate match your venue.
Allocations warning. Make TP1/2/3 allocation % sum to 100.

◼️ 15. Disclaimer

This is a research and decision-support tool, not a buy/sell system, and it makes no performance guarantees. Liquidation price, fees, maintenance margin, and leverage are simplified estimates and can differ from your specific broker or exchange — always verify against their exact contract specifications before sizing a live position. Nothing here is financial advice. Pair it with your own analysis and risk management.
