█ Planetary Aspects is a focused-pair aspect detector for financial astrology. Select any two celestial bodies — planets, luminaries, or lunar nodes — and the indicator identifies every aspect passage directly on your chart, with exact-moment markers, background orb bands, and forward-looking projections.
Designed as the on-chart companion to Natal & Transit Planetary Aspect Table, which displays the full cross-aspect matrix in table form. Use both together for complete aspect coverage: the table for the big picture and this indicator for deep analysis of a single pair.
Supports both geocentric and heliocentric coordinates with high-accuracy ephemeris calculations. Powered by the open-source Blueprint Ephemeris library (VSOP87D + ELP2000-82 + Meeus) — all planetary positions computed directly in Pine Script, no external data required. Validated against NASA's DE440 ephemeris: all bodies under 0.1° RMS (Sun 0.004°, planets 0.005°–0.017°, Moon 0.062°, Pluto 0.059°).
What is an aspect?
An aspect is a specific angular separation between two celestial bodies as viewed from Earth (geocentric) or the Sun (heliocentric). When two planets reach an exact aspect angle — such as 0° (conjunction), 90° (square), or 180° (opposition) — astrologers consider it a moment of significance. Financial astrologers use these geometric alignments as potential timing markers for trend changes, volatility shifts, or turning points in price action.

█ HOW TO USE
1. Choose Transit Aspects or Natal Aspects mode.
2. Select Planet A and Planet B from the dropdowns.
In Natal mode, Planet A is the transiting body and Planet B is the natal position.
3. If using Natal mode, select a preset first-trade date or enter a custom one.
Presets include BTC, ETH, DOGE, NYSE, DJIA, S&P 500, Gold, Crude Oil, Wheat, and more.
4. Enable or disable individual aspects and adjust orbs to your preference.
Aspects (conjunction through sextile) are enabled by default; minor aspects are disabled by default.
5. Optionally enable future projections to view upcoming aspect passages before they occur.
6. Set up alerts via TradingView's alert dialog — the indicator provides a non-repainting "Exact Aspect Detected" condition.
█ NOTES
Geocentric elongation Constraints
In geocentric mode, inferior planets (those orbiting closer to the Sun than Earth) have a maximum angular separation from the Sun:
• ☉ Sun ↔ ☿ Mercury — max ~28° (only conjunction is reliably possible)
• ☉ Sun ↔ ♀ Venus — max ~47° (conjunction through semi-square)
• ☿ Mercury ↔ ♀ Venus — max ~75° (conjunction through quintile)
Aspects beyond these limits (e.g., Sun–Mercury opposition) will never occur. This is an astronomical reality, not a bug. All other planet pairs can form any aspect. In heliocentric mode, these constraints do not apply.
Lunar Nodes
This indicator uses mean lunar nodes. By definition, the North Node (☊) and South Node (☋) are always 180° apart, so the ☊ ↔ ☋ pair is automatically skipped — their opposition is permanent, not a transient event.
Companion Indicator
For a complete cross-aspect matrix of all planets at once, use Natal & Transit Planetary Aspect Table with this indicator. The table shows every active aspect across all planet pairs; this indicator provides detailed on-chart analysis for the specific pair you want to study.
█ KNOWN LIMITATIONS & TIPS
• TradingView limits drawing objects to 500 per category (lines, labels, boxes). On long histories — such as the full DJIA dataset — you may hit this cap. If labels run out, the background color should persist.
• On weekly and monthly timeframes, fast-moving planets (Sun, Mercury, Venus) can pass through an entire orb window within a single bar. Consider widening the orb or dropping to daily for these pairs.
• Future projections are computed on the last bar only and increase processing time at higher look-ahead values.

Planetary Aspects v2 — Release Notes New Features
Bisection refinement for aspect timing
- Previously, exact aspect times were determined by bar boundaries — the detected time was whichever bar the orb inflection landed on. On a daily chart, that's ±24 hours; on weekly, ±7 days.
- Now, when an inflection is detected (orb switches from decreasing to increasing), a binary search runs 15 iterations within a 2-bar window around the inflection to find the exact moment of
minimum orb. It probes the midpoint, checks the slope direction, and halves the interval — converging on the exact time.
- Runs on all timeframes. On an intraday basis, the improvement is marginal (already close). On a daily basis and above, the difference is meaningful, showing the correct minute rather than the wrong day.
- Applies to both historical (refined date/time/orb in tooltips; label stays on detected bar) and future projections (label positioned at the refined timestamp).
- In natal mode, Planet B is fixed, so only Planet A is recalculated per iteration, half the computation.
Display Timezone & Natal Timezone controls
- Display Timezone: controls date formatting for all labels and tables. Defaults to the exchange timezone. Pine Script can't read chart time zone preferences—use this to match them.
- Natal Timezone: reinterprets the date picker in the intended timezone for manual natal dates. Presets already use UTC.
Color-coded info table
- Aspect symbols and orb values match their chart line colors.
Bug Fixes
Fixed missing future labels for slow planet pairs (e.g., Saturn-Neptune)
- fut_asp_handled was seeded from the historical state — slow planets never cleared the flag. Now initialized fresh.
Completed double-label prevention for weekly charts
- asp_handled mechanism now covers both historical and future detection paths.

█ PLANETARY ASPECTS — UPDATE FIX: Retrograde Triple-Hit Detection
Aspect labels were missed during retrograde triple-hit patterns (direct → retrograde → direct) when the planet didn't
move far enough from the exact between passes.
This primarily affected the slow outer planets:
- Saturn
- Uranus
- Neptune
- Pluto
The fix applies to both Natal and Transit modes.
The dedup threshold is now proportional to the actual departure peak instead of fixed to the orb limit, so it adapts to
any planet speed and retrograde depth.
The bgcolor orb bands were always rendering correctly, only the labels were suppressed.

Planetary Aspects v2.1 — Bug Fixes Fixed: Duplicate labels near exact aspects
When the current bar passed an already-detected aspect while still within the orb, the future projection would re-fire and create a second label. The future projection now inherits the historical dedup state, preventing phantom duplicates.
Fixed: Historical label placed on the wrong bar for slow-moving pairs. For slow transits like Mars □ Uranus, the historical label could land 1-2 bars off from the true closest approach. Labels now snap to the bar that contains the bisected exact time, using the same approach as the future projection.
Fixed: Label shift on the bar immediately after the exact. When stepping through bars in replay, the label would jump forward by one bar on the single bar right after the exact, then snap back on the next bar. This was caused by the modulo operator in Pine Script truncating toward zero for negative values. The snap formula now uses math.floor to handle all cases correctly.
Improved: Continuous orb gradient (removed bgcolor gap). The bgcolor orb band no longer has an artificial gap at the exact bar. The gradient naturally darkens at closest approach—the label and line mark the event. This matches the future projection's box behavior and eliminates sync issues between the gap and the label position.

Planetary Aspects v2.2 — Fixed Point Mode + Timezone Labels New Feature: Fixed Point Mode
Track when transiting planets form aspects to any fixed degree in the zodiac. Select a zodiac sign and enter degree, arcminute, and arcsecond precision or override with a raw ecliptic longitude. Useful for monitoring eclipse points or any significant degree on the chart.
- Full aspect detection with bisection-refined timing, matching Transit and Natal mode precision
- Historical labels, future projections, bgcolor orb bands, and info table all supported
- Default: 0° Aries (the Vernal Point)
Improvement: Timezone in Tooltips
All tooltip dates now display the active timezone — e.g., Mar 9, 2026 14:04 (UTC) — so you can validate times at a glance without checking the settings panel.

Ephemeris Accuracy
This indicator is powered by the Blueprint Ephemeris Library, an open-source implementation of VSOP87D (planets), ELP2000-82 (Moon), and Meeus (Pluto), validated against NASA JPL's DE440 ephemeris via Skyfield. All planets have less than 0.1° RMS error: Sun at 0.004°, inner planets (Mercury–Mars) between 0.005° and 0.017°, outer planets (Jupiter–Neptune) between 0.01° and 0.02°, Moon at 0.062°, and Pluto at 0.059°. Positions are accurate to the arcminute level. Arcsecond-level precision exceeds what the truncated VSOP87D term set can ensure, which is why computed positions show degrees and arcminutes only; arcseconds are reserved for user-defined Fixed Point inputs where the value is exact by definition.

v2.3 — Moon Transit Timeframe Guard and Library updateMoon transit aspects are precise but need an intraday timeframe (4H or lower) because the Moon moves about 13° per day. On higher timeframes (Daily, Weekly), the Moon may pass through an entire aspect between bars, leading to inaccurate dates.
- Moon aspects now automatically suppress on timeframes above 4H with a table warning
- Applies when Moon is the transit planet in any mode (Transit, Natal, Fixed Point)
Aspect dates display in UTC by default — you can switch to your local timezone in the Appearance settings at the bottom of the indicator settings.
