WHAT THIS IS
Confirmed Close Intraday is a context map for the 1 hour chart. It does not give buy or sell signals. It shows you where you are in the trading day and what the bigger timeframes are doing, so the decisions you make on the 1H are made with the full picture in view.
On one chart you get:
- The Asia, London and New York sessions as boxes, each in its own local time.
- The Asia range carried through the day, with a mark when London or New York closes through it or sweeps it.
- The 4H and daily trend, and a background tint when they agree.
- The CME weekend gap, kept on the chart until it is filled.
- The daily open, the previous day's high and low, optional weekly levels, and VWAP.
- The hours of the day that have historically been strong or weak.
- A dashboard that sums it all up, including a countdown to the next session open.
It was built for crypto, where the market never closes but the traders who move it still work in sessions.
WHY THERE ARE NO SIGNALS
Before building this, I tested three common 1 hour setups on BTC, ETH and SOL from January 2024 onward: a trend pullback, an Asia range breakout at the London and New York opens, and a volatility squeeze breakout. After realistic fees none of them held up in both halves of the data on all three coins. Printing Buy and Sell labels for them would have been dishonest.
What the 1H does offer is structure: sessions, ranges, opens and the bigger trend. That is what this script shows.
WHY CONFIRMED CLOSE
Everything that marks an event is decided on a closed candle. A break or sweep mark that prints stays printed, and an alert set to "Once Per Bar Close" fires once, at the close.
The 4H and daily trend are read from the last CLOSED 4H and daily candle, never from the one that is still forming. The previous day and week levels work the same way. The daily and weekly open are fixed the moment the period starts, so they do not move either.
Session boxes do grow while a session is running. That is the point of them: the box shows the range so far, and it is final when the session ends.
HOW TO READ THE CHART
Sessions
- Asia (blue): Tokyo, 09:00 to 15:00 Tokyo time.
- London (orange): 08:00 to 16:30 London time.
- New York (purple): 09:30 to 16:00 New York time, the US stock market hours. This is when ETF flows and US macro news hit crypto.
Each session is set in its own timezone, so summer and winter time changes are handled for you. Sessions are drawn on weekdays only.
The Asia range
The overnight range is the level the European and American sessions trade against. Its high and low are extended through the rest of the day as dashed lines.
- "AH" with a small triangle: the first 1H candle of the day that CLOSED above the Asia high during London or New York.
- "AL": the same for a close below the Asia low.
- A small cross: a sweep. The candle traded beyond the Asia high or low but closed back inside. Sweeps often mark a failed break.
Each of these prints at most once per side per day.
Trend tint
A faint green background means the 4H and the daily trend are both up. Faint red means both are down. No tint means they disagree. The trend is a Supertrend (ATR 10, multiplier 3) read on those timeframes.
Hours of the day
Thin vertical shading marks hours in UTC. Green covers 21:00 to 23:00 UTC. Red marks 13:00 and 23:00 UTC. On Binance 1H data for BTC, ETH and SOL, these hours leaned the same way in 2024 and again from 2025 to September 2026. The effect is a few basis points on average. That is too small to trade on its own after fees, so treat it as a timing preference, not a signal. Both windows can be changed in the settings.
Levels
- Daily open: 00:00 UTC, the open of the crypto daily candle.
- Previous day high and low.
- Weekly open and previous week high and low (off by default).
VWAP
A volume weighted average price that resets each day by default. You can anchor it to the week or to the New York open instead, and add 1 and 2 standard deviation bands.
CME weekend gap
CME bitcoin futures close on Friday at 16:00 and reopen on Sunday at 17:00 Chicago time, while spot crypto keeps trading. Many traders watch the price at those two moments. The script marks the zone between the chart's price at the Friday close and at the Sunday reopen, and keeps it on the chart until price trades back through the Friday close. It is then labelled as filled. The prices come from the chart you are on, so they are a spot approximation of the futures gap, not the futures prices themselves.
Dashboard
Bottom right by default:
- 4H trend and daily trend, and whether they are aligned.
- The session running now, or "Between sessions".
- The next session to open and how long until it does.
- Where price sits against the Asia range, VWAP and the daily open.
- Whether the current hour is in a strong or weak window.
HOW TO USE IT
A few ways people use a map like this:
1. Trade in the direction of the tint. When the 4H and daily agree, a break of the Asia range in that direction has the bigger picture behind it.
2. Treat a sweep of the Asia high or low against the trend as a warning that the break may fail.
3. Use the daily open and VWAP as a quick read on who is in control today: above both is strong, below both is weak.
4. Know where the unfilled CME gap sits. It is a level many traders watch.
5. Be patient in the red hours and around session changes.
None of this is a rule. It is context for your own decisions.
Alerts
After adding the script, open Create Alert and choose Confirmed Close Intraday as the condition. Available conditions:
- Asia open, London open, New York open.
- Asia high broken, Asia low broken.
- Asia high swept, Asia low swept.
- 4H trend changed, Daily trend changed.
- 4H and daily aligned up, 4H and daily aligned down.
- CME gap filled.
Use "Once Per Bar Close". TradingView stores the settings when an alert is created, so after changing a setting, delete the alert and create it again.

The sessions, ranges and gap are drawn on intraday charts of 1 hour or lower. On higher timeframes they are hidden, because a 4H candle cannot tell you when a session started.
CREDIT
The trend is the Supertrend method (Olivier Seban). VWAP and the session and range concepts are standard market tools. The code, the confirmed close handling, the weekend gap tracking and the hour of day research behind the default windows are original to this script. It is a companion to my Confirmed Close Flow, which is built for 4H swing signals.
LIMITATIONS
- This script does not tell you when to buy or sell.
- Session times are fixed windows. Liquidity does not switch on and off at the exact minute.
- The weekend gap uses the chart's own prices, not CME futures prices, so it approximates the real futures gap.
- The hour of day windows describe the past on three coins. They can weaken or disappear.
- A 1H candle can move far between the moment a level breaks and the close that confirms it.
- This is a charting tool for education and analysis. It is not financial advice and it does not place trades.

Sürüm Notları
NEW: NEW YORK OPENING RANGEA box over the first 30 minutes after the 09:30 New York open, with its high and low extended to the 16:00 New York close. The length can be set to 15, 30 or 60 minutes. The range is built from 15 minute bars, so it is exact on the 1 hour chart.
"OR" with a small triangle marks the first 15 minute close through the range within 3 hours of the open, once per day. It is shown when the chart candle closes, so it does not repaint.
Also new: a "NY range" row on the dashboard (Forming, Above, Inside or Below), and two alerts, NY range broken up and NY range broken down. Settings are in the new "New York opening range" group.
WHY IT IS CONTEXT AND NOT A SIGNAL
Before adding it I tested session-open setups on Binance 15 minute data for BTC, ETH and SOL from January 2021: opening range breakouts at the London and New York opens, Asia range breaks, and fades of Asia range sweeps. None stayed profitable after 0.1% round-trip fees on all three coins in both 2021 to 2023 and 2024 onward.
The New York opening range was the one real effect. A close through it, held to the New York close, was positive before fees on all three coins in both periods. After normal taker fees it was not, and it has weakened every year since 2023. That makes it a useful level to watch, not a reason to trade.
A CORRECTION
The description says a sweep of the Asia range is a warning that a break may fail. In the same test, fading those sweeps was roughly flat before fees, in both directions. Treat a sweep as a level that was tested, nothing more.
