Band-Channel Persistence Trend [SchizoQuant]

2 094
🟣Band-Channel Persistence Trend is an adaptive trend-following indicator designed to identify sustained directional movement while filtering temporary pullbacks and market noise. It combines an Ehlers SuperSmoother, volatility-adjusted bands, historical price channels, and directional residence to build a persistent trailing defense that determines when a trend has genuinely changed.

Rather than reversing whenever price crosses a moving average, the indicator evaluates whether price has violated its active trend defense and demonstrated sufficient evidence of an opposing trend.

🟣How It Works
The indicator begins with a two-pole Ehlers SuperSmoother to establish a responsive but noise-reduced trend center.

An adaptive volatility envelope is calculated using the root mean square (RMS) deviation of price from that center. An ATR-based minimum prevents the envelope from becoming excessively narrow during periods of low volatility.

This creates a volatility-aware reference for evaluating price movement without relying on a fixed percentage or static distance.

🟣Directional Residence
The indicator measures how consistently price has closed above or below its smoothed center.

Greater bullish residence increases the influence of the historical lower channel boundary on bullish trend defense. Greater bearish residence applies the corresponding adjustment to the upper channel.

This blending allows established trends to receive different structural treatment from newly developing trends.

🟣Signal Logic
The indicator maintains a persistent bullish or bearish regime through its internal trend state.

The active defense trails in the direction of the established trend without loosening during normal price movement.

A reversal requires a closing-price breach of this defense, followed by either:
- A decisive break of recent completed price structure.
- The configured number of consecutive closes beyond the defense.

For example, a bearish reversal from an established bullish trend uses:

The bullish reversal follows the corresponding opposite conditions.

Signals are generated only after a confirmed candle close. Initial regime initialization does not generate a LONG or SHORT marker.

🟣Visual Feedback
- Neon green: Active bullish regime and LONG defense.
- Purple: Active bearish regime and SHORT defense.
- LONG / SHORT triangles: Confirmed trend reversals.
- Adaptive bands: Volatility envelope surrounding the smoothed trend center.
- Price channel: Historical structural highs and lows.
- Candle coloring: Persistent bullish or bearish regime.

🟣User Controls
Users can customize smoothing, band width, ATR floor, channel length, residence sensitivity, reversal structure, and confirmation requirements. Trend defenses, adaptive bands, structural channels, signal markers, and candle coloring can be displayed or hidden independently.

🟣What Makes It Different
The indicator does not depend on a single moving-average crossover. Its reversal mechanism combines volatility normalization, directional persistence, structural price boundaries, and confirmation logic.

A decisive structural break can accelerate a reversal, while less decisive movement must persist beyond the active defense before the trend changes.

🟣Intended Use
Band-Channel Persistence Trend is designed for identifying prevailing market direction, monitoring potential trend deterioration, and locating confirmed transitions between bullish and bearish regimes.

It can serve as a directional filter or a supporting component within a broader trading methodology.

🟣Limitations
The indicator is reactive rather than predictive. Persistent sideways conditions may produce repeated reversals, while wider defenses and stricter confirmation settings can delay signals. Results vary with market conditions, timeframe, and parameter selection. It does not guarantee profitable trades or identify exact market tops and bottoms.
