Broadcom Stocks Gain 3.72% as Anthropic Leases Reveal $161.2 Billion Payment Scale

Broadcom AVGO, the semiconductor and infrastructure software supplier, climbed 3.72% to $334.22 at 11:00 a.m. ET on November 3. The move put a huge AI financing commitment in focus: Anthropic disclosed approximately $161.2 billion in rent, excluding interest, across five-year equipment leases involving Broadcom and financing entities. Rights under parts of those arrangements were assigned to third parties, making the payment structure critical to understanding what Broadcom could ultimately collect.

The headline number needs careful handling. Broadcom's latest quarterly results showed $16.7 billion in AI semiconductor revenue against $29.6 billion in total sales, putting AI's contribution at approximately 56.4%. Those booked sales and Anthropic's multiyear rental commitments measure different things. Dow Jones reporting also identified the Broadcom-related commitments in the amended prospectus, but the full lease amount should not be counted as incremental Broadcom revenue.

The GuruFocus snapshot pairs a GF Score of 98/100 with a price-to-earnings ratio of 42.67, suggesting strong business metrics come with substantial earnings expectations. Financing could help customers deploy more AI capacity, but investors still need to follow equipment ownership, rental payments and revenue recognition. For Broadcom, the next test is execution: delivering hardware, managing customer concentration and turning expanding custom-compute demand into cash.
