Decycler High-Low Breakout [SchizoQuant]

5 073
🟣Decycler High-Low Breakout Trend is an adaptive trend-following indicator built around John Ehlers' Decycler filtering technique, directional slope confirmation, and volatility-adjusted price channels.

Rather than relying on conventional moving-average crossovers, the indicator evaluates price movement beyond a filtered high-low channel. It combines ATR-based channel padding, directional breathing room, and strong breakout confirmation to distinguish potential trend reversals from ordinary price fluctuations.

🟣How It Works
The indicator applies a two-pole Ehlers Decycler independently to high, low, and closing prices.

The Decycler removes selected cyclical components through a high-pass filter, leaving a smoother representation of underlying price movement.

The upper and lower channel boundaries are constructed from the highest and lowest values of the three filtered series.

This produces a continuously adapting high-low channel that responds to price direction while reducing sensitivity to shorter-term cyclical noise.

🟣Adaptive Channel Defense
The indicator measures the directional slope of the Decycler close and normalizes it against ATR.

Positive slope strengthens bullish directional evidence, while negative slope strengthens bearish evidence.

Channel padding expands according to volatility and the strength of the corresponding directional movement.

This mechanism gives the protective side of a directional move additional breathing room when the Decycler slope supports that direction.

The resulting boundaries adapt to changes in volatility and directional strength rather than maintaining a fixed distance from price.

🟣Signal Logic
The indicator maintains a persistent bullish or bearish trend regime.

A reversal requires price to close beyond the opposing defensive boundary, together with one of two confirmation conditions:

- Slope Confirmation: The normalized Decycler slope exceeds the configured directional threshold.
- Strong Breakout Override: Price moves sufficiently far beyond the defense boundary to qualify without slope confirmation.

LONG signals occur when an established bearish regime changes to bullish following a qualifying upward breakout.

SHORT signals occur when an established bullish regime changes to bearish following a qualifying downward breakout.

Signals are generated only after confirmed candle closes. Initial trend initialization does not generate a LONG or SHORT marker.

🟣Visual Feedback
- Neon green: Active bullish trend regime and LONG signals.
- Purple: Active bearish trend regime and SHORT signals.
- Decycler centerline: Filtered closing-price trajectory.
- High-low channel: Optional upper and lower Decycler boundaries.
- Active reversal boundary: Volatility-adjusted defensive level for the prevailing trend.
- Channel fill: Optional shaded region between the Decycler channel boundaries.
- LONG / SHORT triangles: Confirmed directional regime transitions.
- Candle coloring: Visual representation of the persistent trend state.

Channel-line transparency and channel-fill transparency can be customized independently without affecting signal calculations.

🟣User Controls
Users can configure the Decycler cutoff period, ATR length, channel padding, slope measurement period, slope confirmation threshold, trend breathing room, and strong breakout override.

Visualization settings control the Decycler centerline, channel boundaries, active reversal boundary, shaded channel, signal markers, and candle coloring.

Bullish and bearish colors are fully customizable.

🟣What Makes It Different
Decycler High-Low Breakout Trend combines digital signal processing with volatility-adjusted structural breakout confirmation.

Instead of triggering reversals from a simple centerline crossover, it requires price to exceed a defensive channel boundary and demonstrate sufficient directional evidence.

The strong breakout override provides an alternative confirmation path when price movement is decisive but the filtered slope has not yet reached its threshold.

🟣Intended Use
The indicator is designed for identifying persistent market direction, monitoring potential trend deterioration, evaluating adaptive breakout boundaries, and detecting confirmed transitions between bullish and bearish regimes.

It can be used as a visual trend reference or as a directional confirmation component within a broader trading methodology.

🟣Limitations
The indicator is reactive rather than predictive. Sideways conditions may produce repeated regime changes, while wider channel padding and stronger confirmation requirements may delay reversals.

Channel boundaries change as filtered prices, volatility, and directional slope evolve. They should not be interpreted as guaranteed support, resistance, or executable stop-loss levels.
