Delta Divergence Alert

This indicator flags candles whose close disagrees with their volume delta. These are often read as signs of absorption, where passive limit orders soak up aggressive market orders.
What it detects
Doji candles (close = open) are ignored.
How it works
Delta is taken from TradingView’s native footprint data via request.footprint(). The script uses each bar’s measured buy and sell volume rather than an estimate from lower-timeframe bars. On bars or symbols where footprint data isn’t available, nothing is plotted.
Inputs
Alerts
Three alert conditions are included: Bullish delta divergence, Bearish delta divergence, and Any delta divergence. Set the alert trigger to “Once per bar close.” Before the bar closes, both the candle direction and the delta can change, so earlier triggers will produce false signals. To get an audible alert, enable “Play sound” in the alert’s Notifications tab.
Requirements
Usage notes
A delta divergence is context, not a signal on its own. It carries more weight at key support or resistance levels, on above-average volume, or after an extended move, where it may point to exhaustion or trapped traders. In the middle of a range, it is frequently noise.

What it detects
- Bullish divergence (green triangle below the bar): the candle closes up (close > open), but delta is negative. Aggressive sellers outnumbered aggressive buyers, yet price still rose, which suggests passive buyers absorbed the selling.
- Bearish divergence (red triangle above the bar): the candle closes down (close < open), but delta is positive. Aggressive buyers dominated, yet price still fell, which suggests passive sellers absorbed the buying.
Doji candles (close = open) are ignored.

Inputs
- Ticks per row: the row size used for the footprint request. This does not affect the bar’s total delta, but it is required by the function.
- Minimum |delta| to count: ignores divergences where delta is close to zero. Set to 0 to flag every divergence, or raise it to keep only the more meaningful imbalances for your instrument and timeframe.

Requirements
- A TradingView plan with footprint data access (Premium or Ultimate).
- A symbol that supports footprint data.
