On a macro-shock day following 7/16's volatility spiral and Centcom's bombing announcement which I think came ~ 14.00 ET 7/16, NY did not trust London's low, 28554.75.

NY went down to 28412.50 - just above a 5/4 daily VPOC, 29402.25.

This is a new controlling low and a new safe-haven shelf.

Hinges built atop daily session VPOCS tend to lead to big gains.
It looks like the NY sweep low was 28408.25.
The 5/4 VPOC = 28402.25.

Refresher for microstructure 15-second bar trading:

OHM Scenario-1 BTO Hinge - Four Requirements

1. Must have a sell-side sweep between 09.30.00 & 09.45.00 ET
*this sweep must be the hinge-producing sweep
*sweeps after 9.45.00 are Scenario-2
2. Must have a reclaim
*must close above sweep close
*must hold above sweep low
*without a reclaim the sweep is invalid
3. Must hinge (compress)
*must have an internal reclaim shelf i.e. the close of the reclaim bar
*Must have an apex shelf
*Must have a lip shelf
4. Must break the lip

Apex Shelf:

1. Reclaim bar close
2. And any subsequent bars that close above the sweep bar low
*scenario-1 hinge apex shelves often are formed by one or two 15s bars
*scenario-2 hinge apex shelves can be formed by one 15s bar. Often they have several 15s compression bars
*the minimum requirement is one 15s compression bar close above the sweep low

Lip Shelf:
1. First close above apex shelf
2. Any subsequent close(s) above apex shelf as long as they occur before the lip break.

A hinge can be two 15s bars. Especially Scenario-1 hinges.

The first bar can be sweep, reclaim, apex shelf, lip shelf and lip all in one 15s bar. The only other requirement is a break bar. This happens frequently for OHM Scenario-1 BTO Hinges.

IF you are new to microstructure trading
THEN take your time and get it right.

These hinges form fast, and it takes repetition to see them clearly.
Precision requires that you first slow it down.
Speed comes later.

Get really good at drawing these.
And, as day follows night, you will get good at this.
You will be one of the best.

Early on, focus on accuracy, not speed.
NY hinges happen fast.
It takes time to read them cleanly.
Slow down, follow the structure, and let repetition build your timing.
