XAUUSD Short: News Patience + 3 Topping Confirmations + 1:6 RR Setup

Today’s Gold short was all about patience, confirmation, and letting the chart prove itself before entering.

I waited for the Initial Jobless Claims release first instead of trying to predict the news candle. The report came in around expectations, so once the market showed it was steady, I shifted my focus back to price action instead of forcing a trade during the initial volatility.

After the news move, Gold started pushing higher, but I didn’t want to chase buys at the top. I waited for the trend to show signs of exhaustion and topping. The setup gave me three key confirmations:

Confirmation #1: Price rejected the upper area after the news-driven push.

Confirmation #2: Another rejection formed near the same resistance zone, showing buyers were struggling to continue higher.

Confirmation #3: Price broke the ascending support/trend structure, giving the first real sign that momentum was shifting from bullish to bearish.

Once that support broke, I did not enter immediately. I waited for the pullback/retest back into the broken structure area. That gave me a clean short entry with a tight invalidation point above the retest zone.

The trade was planned as a 1:6 Risk-to-Reward setup, targeting the next downside liquidity/support area. As of writing this, I’m still holding the short and targeting the full 1:6 move. My stop loss has already been moved to breakeven plus profit, so this trade is now protected and guaranteed to close green if price reverses.

This is the kind of trading I like most: wait for the news, let the first move happen, avoid chasing, demand multiple confirmations, then enter on the retest with strong risk-to-reward.

Patience paid on this one.

Let me know how you like this style of trading — waiting for confirmation instead of gambling the news candle.
