AURIX FlowMatrix
Volume-Weighted Market Context, Rolling POC Signals and Live Dashboard for TradingView
Author and Publisher: Michael_Fx_Trader
Version: Pine Script v6 | Type: Indicator (overlay) | Not a strategy and not an auto-trading tool
1. WHAT IS AURIX FLOWMATRIX
AURIX FlowMatrix is an all-in-one market analysis indicator that places everything a discretionary trader needs to judge price location, volume concentration and short-term mean-reversion opportunities directly on one chart. It combines an anchored volume-weighted reference line (VWAP), two upper and two lower volume-weighted deviation bands, an anchored volume profile with its Point of Control (Anchor POC), a separate recent Rolling POC, an estimated directional volume reading, relative volume, clearly labelled BUY and SELL signals, and a compact dashboard that explains the current state of the market in plain words.
It works on Forex, metals such as gold and silver, indices, stocks, ETFs, futures and exchange-traded crypto, and on any timeframe from intraday to weekly and above. Nothing is hardcoded for one symbol or one candle duration. Everything adapts to the chart that is currently open.
AURIX FlowMatrix is an analysis tool. It marks rule-based conditions. It does not predict the future and it does not guarantee profit.
2. WHY IT WAS CREATED
Most traders look at price, a moving average and a separate volume indicator, then try to combine them mentally. This is slow and it hides the relationship between where price is, where volume has actually traded, and how stretched price is from its fair-value reference.
AURIX FlowMatrix was built to answer four practical questions on one screen:
- Where is price relative to the volume-weighted fair value of the current period?
- Where has most of the volume actually traded, both over the whole period and over the most recent bars?
- Is price stretched far from fair value or sitting close to it?
- Has price just crossed the recent high-volume price in a direction that leans back toward fair value?
The last question is the basis of the BUY and SELL labels. Instead of firing signals every time price touches a band, the indicator waits for a confirmed crossover of the Rolling POC, and only when the closing candle is on the correct side of VWAP. This keeps the signal logic transparent, simple to verify by eye and free of future data.
3. HOW IT WORKS - THE CALCULATIONS
3.1 Anchor period
All anchored values reset at the start of the anchor period you choose: Session, Week, Month, Quarter or Year. On intraday charts, Session follows the symbol exchange session. On daily and higher charts Session falls back to the Week anchor. When the chart timeframe equals the anchor period, every bar becomes its own anchor, so anchored values become single-bar values. No signal is allowed on the very first bar of a new anchor.
3.2 Volume-weighted reference line (VWAP)
VWAP is the sum of price multiplied by volume, divided by the sum of volume, accumulated from the start of the anchor period. The default price source is the typical price (high plus low plus close, divided by three). You can change the source in the settings. It is drawn as the central gray line and every other calculation uses it as the shared reference.
Bars with zero or missing volume receive zero weight. If the data feed supplies no volume at all, the dashboard says so and volume-based values are shown as unavailable instead of invented numbers.
3.3 Deviation bands
The bands are placed above and below VWAP at multiples of a volume-weighted standard deviation. The dispersion is calculated as the volume-weighted mean of squared price minus the square of VWAP, then the square root is taken. This differs from an ordinary standard deviation because each observation is weighted by its volume, so heavy-volume bars influence the width more than quiet bars.
Default multipliers are 1.0 for the inner bands and 2.0 for the outer bands. Upper regions use warm colors and lower regions use cool teal colors. Shading can be switched off without disabling the calculations. A band touch is never treated as a signal and is never described as a guaranteed reversal.
3.4 Anchored volume profile and Anchor POC
The profile divides the price range of the active anchor into a chosen number of equal price rows (default 24). Each candle volume is spread across the rows that the candle high-to-low range overlaps, in proportion to the overlap. The row holding the greatest accumulated volume is the Anchor POC, drawn as a horizontal line from the start of the anchor to the profile on the right.
The profile is built from candles, not from individual transactions, so it is an approximation and not a full tick-by-tick market profile. You can limit the profile to the outer deviation bands if you want to ignore extreme outliers. The dashboard tells you if the profile was truncated by the performance limit.
3.5 Estimated buy and sell volume split
Each candle is classified by direction. A close above the open counts as positive, a close below the open counts as negative, and a doji uses the change from the previous close. The profile rows can be colored teal for positive-direction volume and red for negative-direction volume.
This is only an estimate based on candle direction. It is not true bid and ask aggressor volume and it is not proof of institutional activity.
3.6 Rolling POC
The Rolling POC uses the same allocation method but only over the most recent bars (default 50) and it is completely independent from the anchor. The raw result is the price of the highest-volume row in that window. The plotted line is a simple moving average of that raw price (default length 5), which makes it smooth but slightly lagging. The line is teal when price is at or above it and red when price is below it.
Because the same number of bars covers a different amount of time on every timeframe, the window length should be matched to your trading horizon.
3.7 Estimated directional delta
Two readings are shown:
- Anchor Delta: positive-direction volume minus negative-direction volume, divided by the total classified volume, over the whole anchor period.
- Recent Delta: the same calculation over the last chosen number of bars (default 40).
The sign and the percentage are written in text, so meaning does not depend on color alone. A zero or missing denominator is shown as n/a.
3.8 Relative volume
Relative volume compares the volume of the last completed candle with the average of the candles before it (default 20). The evaluated candle is excluded from its own baseline. A value above 1.0 means volume above average, near 1.0 means normal and below 1.0 means quieter than average. An optional time-of-day method compares with the same minute of previous sessions. Relative volume says nothing about direction.
3.9 Candle coloring (optional)
Candles can be tinted by how far the close is from VWAP, with a gradual transition from light to strong color as the distance in standard deviations grows. This color shows distance from VWAP only. It does not mean the candle itself was bullish or bearish.
4. THE BUY AND SELL SIGNALS
BUY label (green, below the candle)
- The close crosses from below the Rolling POC to above it.
- The same candle closes below VWAP.
- The candle is confirmed, meaning it has closed.
- The idea: price was weak and below fair value, and has just reclaimed the recent high-volume price. This marks a possible upward mean-reversion opportunity.
SELL label (red, above the candle)
- The close crosses from above the Rolling POC to below it.
- The same candle closes above VWAP.
- The candle is confirmed.
- The idea: price was strong and above fair value, and has just lost the recent high-volume price. This marks a possible downward mean-reversion opportunity.
Every signal is a text label containing the word BUY or SELL. Arrows alone are never used.
Signal behavior
- One label per newly confirmed crossover. The label is not repeated while price stays on the same side.
- Confirmed labels never move to another candle after they appear.
- Signal sensitivity: Standard uses the smoothed Rolling POC. High uses the raw Rolling POC and produces more labels.
- Optional strict crossover requires the previous close to be on the other side of the current POC value.
- Optional cooldown sets a minimum number of bars between same-direction signals.
- Optional filters, all off by default: higher-timeframe trend filter and minimum relative volume filter.
- Optional provisional preview shows a temporary label on the forming candle. It is clearly marked and never becomes an alert.
Repainting explained: lines, the profile and the dashboard update while a candle is forming. That is normal live updating. A confirmed BUY or SELL label is created only at candle close and is never moved or removed afterwards.
5. HOW TO READ THE CHART AND ANALYZE WITH IT
Step 1 - Find the context. Look at where price sits relative to VWAP. Above VWAP means price is trading above the volume-weighted fair value of the period. Below VWAP means below it. The dashboard also shows the distance in standard deviations.
Step 2 - Judge the stretch. Price between VWAP and the inner band is normal. Price near or beyond the outer band is stretched. Stretched does not mean it must reverse. It only means price is far from its reference.
Step 3 - Locate the volume. The Anchor POC shows where the period accepted the most volume. The Rolling POC shows where the most recent bars accepted the most volume. Price above both POCs while above VWAP shows acceptance of higher prices. Price below both shows acceptance of lower prices.
Step 4 - Check the participation. Relative volume above 1.0 on the signal candle means the move happened with above-average activity. Below 1.0 means a quiet move. Use Recent Delta and Anchor Delta as a rough lean of candle-direction volume, not as proof of who is buying or selling.
Step 5 - Use the signal as a trigger, not a command. A BUY or SELL label is a prompt to look at the setup. Check that the signal agrees with the nearest levels shown in the dashboard, the higher-timeframe picture and your own risk plan. Set your own stop and target logic. The indicator does not provide them.
Step 6 - Compare signals with levels. A BUY near the lower outer band with price still below VWAP has room to travel back toward VWAP. A BUY just under VWAP has less room. The same logic applies in reverse for SELL labels. The Nearest Above and Nearest Below rows tell you the closest levels in either direction.
6. THE DASHBOARD - ROW BY ROW
The dashboard has three columns: Metric, Value and Live Bar. The Value column holds the number. The Live Bar column holds the interpretation in words.
- Symbol: current symbol and timeframe.
- Anchor: the selected anchor period and how many bars it holds so far.
- Price: the current price.
- VWAP position: Above VWAP, Below VWAP or At VWAP, together with the distance from VWAP in standard deviations.
- VWAP: the VWAP price and the distance of current price from it.
- Anchor POC: the price of the anchored point of control, whether price is above or below it and the distance.
- Rolling POC: the price of the recent point of control, whether price is above or below it and the distance.
- Anchor Delta (est.): estimated candle-direction volume difference for the anchor period, with sign and percentage.
- Recent Delta (est.): the same for the recent window.
- Nearest Above and Nearest Below: the closest calculated reference above and below price (VWAP, bands, Anchor POC or Rolling POC) with the distance.
- Relative Volume: volume of the last completed candle as a multiple of its baseline average.
- Signals B / S: how many confirmed BUY and SELL signals exist on the loaded chart.
- Last Signal: direction, price and time of the most recent confirmed signal.
- Status: OK, Warm-up or No Volume, with a short reason. It also warns when volume may be tick-based.
Distance units can be changed between ATR multiple, absolute price, percent and minimum ticks. The dashboard position, text size, colors and rows are all adjustable, and a compact layout is available for small charts.
7. SETTINGS GUIDE FOR DIFFERENT TRADING STYLES
Scalping (1 to 5 minute charts): Session anchor, Rolling window 30 to 50 bars, smoothing 3 to 5, High sensitivity if you want faster labels.
Intraday (15 minute to 1 hour): Session anchor, Rolling window 50 to 80 bars, smoothing 5, Standard sensitivity.
Swing (4 hour and daily): Week or Month anchor, Rolling window 30 to 60 bars, smoothing 5 to 8, consider the higher-timeframe filter.
Position view (weekly): Quarter or Year anchor, Rolling window 20 to 40 bars.
If you see too many signals, use Standard sensitivity, increase the smoothing length, enable strict crossover, add a cooldown or enable the relative volume filter. If you see too few, use High sensitivity, reduce the smoothing length or shorten the Rolling window.
8. ALERTS
Three alert conditions are included: confirmed BUY, confirmed SELL and a combined BUY or SELL alert. They fire once, when the signal candle closes. The message contains the indicator name, direction, symbol, timeframe, closing price and confirmation time.
Adding the indicator to a chart does not activate any alert. You must open the alert dialog in TradingView, choose AURIX FlowMatrix as the condition, select the alert type and create the alert yourself.
9. DATA LIMITATIONS AND HONEST NOTES
- Forex, metals CFDs and many index feeds provide tick volume, which counts price updates and not traded contracts. It is a useful activity proxy, but it is not exchange volume. The dashboard warns you when this is likely.
- If a symbol has no volume at all, volume-based values show as unavailable.
- The profile is built from candles, not individual trades. Directional delta is an estimate from candle direction.
- TradingView keeps a maximum of 500 labels, so only the most recent 500 signal labels are visible on very long charts.
- The anchored profile uses at most the most recent 4900 bars of the anchor, adjustable in the settings.
- Data vendors can revise historical data, which can change history after a reload.
- The profile needs free space on the right side of the chart. Drag the chart to the left or increase the profile offset if it appears clipped.
- The indicator cannot predict price, cannot guarantee any result and does not manage risk.
