# Dino MDSO – Momentum Delta-Volume Sync. Oscillator

**Momentum. Volume Pressure. Market Dynamics.**

The **Dino MDSO (Momentum Delta-Volume Sync. Oscillator)** is a technical analysis indicator designed to combine price momentum with volume-weighted price movement into a single, normalized oscillator.

Its primary purpose is to help traders assess directional pressure, identify changes in market momentum, and recognize potential signs of weakening price movement or absorption.

By combining momentum analysis, adaptive weighting, ALMA smoothing, and visual market-state information, the MDSO provides a structured perspective on the relationship between price action and volume activity.

### Key Features

**1. Momentum and Volume Synchronization**

The MDSO combines two analytical components:

- Price momentum calculated over a configurable lookback period.
- A volume-weighted directional price movement estimate based on each candle's open, close, high, low, and volume.

Both components are smoothed using the Arnaud Legoux Moving Average (ALMA) and normalized to a scale ranging from -100 to +100.

An adaptive weighting mechanism gives greater influence to the volume-based component when its normalized magnitude increases.

**2. Dynamic Momentum Histogram**

The histogram visualizes the combined directional pressure:

- **Positive values (turquoise):** Positive directional momentum and volume-weighted pressure.
- **Negative values (orange):** Negative directional momentum and volume-weighted pressure.
- **Stronger colors:** Specific price-action confirmation conditions are present.
- **Lighter colors:** The corresponding confirmation conditions are absent.

The zero line serves as a reference for evaluating shifts in directional pressure.

**3. Status Line**

An optional status line provides an additional perspective on smoothed, cumulative volume-weighted price movement.

It is normalized over a configurable historical window, allowing traders to compare its current position relative to recent observations.

The status line can be used as a complementary tool when evaluating broader directional conditions.

**4. Potential Absorption Detection**

The indicator highlights conditions where:

- The normalized volume-based component reaches an elevated magnitude.
- Smoothed candle-body efficiency remains relatively low.
- The current candle's trading range exceeds its recent average.

These conditions may indicate a mismatch between estimated directional pressure and actual price progress.

Potential absorption zones are highlighted with an orange background.

**5. Automatic Candle Coloring**

Optional candle coloring visualizes changes in the underlying, unnormalized momentum-volume composite.

The coloring responds to the direction and acceleration of the composite, providing an additional way to observe changes in market dynamics directly on the price chart.

### Indicator Settings

Users can customize:

- **Lookback Histogram:** Calculation period for momentum, rolling volume-weighted movement, and normalization.
- **ALMA Smoothing:** Smoothing period applied to the primary components.
- **Line Memory:** Historical normalization window for the status line.
- **Show Status Line:** Enable or disable the additional status visualization.
- **Automatic Candle Coloring:** Enable or disable dynamic price-bar colors.
- **Custom Colors:** Adjust histogram, status line, and candle colors.

### Tested Markets and Timeframes

The Dino MDSO has been tested on the following instruments:

**Markets:**
- XAU/USD (Spot Gold)
- Gold Futures (GC)

**Timeframes:**
- 1 Day (1D)
- 4 Hours (4H)
- 1 Hour (1H)

Testing on these markets and timeframes does not imply guaranteed performance or equivalent behavior across other instruments or chart intervals.

### Important Notes

The MDSO uses a candle-based approximation of directional volume pressure. It does not calculate actual bid/ask volume delta or reconstruct executed buy and sell transactions.

For instruments such as XAU/USD, reported volume may represent tick volume rather than centralized exchange-traded volume, depending on the data provider.

The indicator is intended as a complementary analytical tool, not a standalone trading system. Histogram readings, absorption highlights, and candle colors should always be interpreted within the broader context of market structure, volatility, and risk management.
