Concept AMD -Accumulation Manipulation Distribution
1. Accumulation (The Calm) This is the range phase. The price oscillates within a narrow horizontal tunnel. What happens: Institutions build their positions discreetly. The objective: To create liquidity on both sides of the range (Stop Loss orders accumulate just above and just below). Visual: Small candles, low volatility. 2. Manipulation (The Trap) This is the most crucial move. The price violently breaks out of the accumulation range, often in the opposite direction of the actual move to come. The classic scenario: If institutions want to buy (Long), they will first push the price down to trigger Stop Loss orders from early buyers and encourage sellers to enter a Breakout. The objective: To "clean up" the market and collect the orders needed to propel the price in the opposite direction. Indicator: We often look for a break above a high or low from the previous session (Asia High/Low, for example). 3. Distribution (The Reward) Once the stops have been hit and liquidity is taken, the price abruptly reverses in the initially anticipated direction. What happens: This is the clear trend phase. The price "distributes" accumulated profits while traders trapped in the manipulation phase must buy back their losing positions. The objective: To reach a major price target (a larger supply or demand zone). The AMD Trader's Checklist Phase Trader Action Mindset Accumulation Observation only. "I draw my upper and lower limits." Manipulation Don't sell the breakout! It's a trap, I'm waiting for the reversal. Distribution Enter after re-entering the range. "I follow the institutional flow."
