Monthly % Return [everget]
Hello friends,
Monthly % Return is a compact performance visualization tool that shows how an asset performs within each calendar month.
It calculates the percentage return from each month's opening price to the current or final close, then presents that information either in a dedicated sub-pane, directly on the main price chart, or in both places at the same time.
🛠️ How It Works
At the start of each new month, the indicator begins tracking a new monthly return. While the month is still in progress, the current return updates in real time. Once the month ends, its final result remains on the chart as part of the historical monthly performance view.
Positive and negative months are color-coded separately, making it easy to scan the chart and compare monthly performance at a glance.

The sub-pane supports three render modes:
📈 Main Chart Overlay
The optional main-chart overlay highlights each month directly on the price chart.
Each monthly box is drawn as a single candle body, spanning from the month's open to its close, and is colored according to whether the monthly return is positive or negative. Optional box text can show the month, percentage return, or both, and month separators can be drawn on the price chart as well.
This provides a direct visual connection between monthly price behavior and monthly performance without requiring manual drawings.

📊 Sub-Pane

- Lines - displays each month as a horizontal return segment, with configurable line thickness
- None - turns the sub-pane off entirely and greys out its settings, for when you only want the main-chart overlay

- Use month separators when you want clearer visual boundaries between calendar months.
- Customize labels independently for the sub-pane and main-chart overlay.
