What's Going On With Super Micro Computer Stock Wednesday?
Super Micro Computer Inc. SMCI stock is trading higher by about 1% in Wednesday’s premarket session. The move comes as risk appetite improves modestly ahead of the opening bell.
Nasdaq futures are up 0.02%, while S&P 500 futures have gained 0.10%.
There is no clear company-specific headline driving Wednesday’s early move. Instead, traders appear to be leaning into Super Micro’s recent momentum, improving technical setup and strong AI infrastructure demand.
At the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference on Sept. 10, Senior Vice President of Corporate Development Michael Staiger said AI demand remained “pretty excellent.”
He said the company’s roughly $60 billion order book supports its fiscal 2027 revenue outlook of $65 billion to $72 billion.
Staiger also described AI infrastructure spending as a multiyear opportunity. Super Micro sees demand across neocloud providers, enterprises and sovereign customers.
Technical Analysis
Super Micro is trading above its key moving averages. Those include the 20-day SMA of $38.40, the 50-day SMA of $34.09, the 100-day SMA of $33.77 and the 200-day SMA of $31.68.
The stock is about 32% above its 200-day average. However, shares remain down 11.6% over the past 12 months.
The technical setup is also constructive. The 20-day average remains above the 50-day average. In addition, the 50-day average remains above the 200-day average following an August golden cross.
Momentum has improved as well. MACD is above its signal line, while the histogram remains positive.
The mid-$30s area could serve as an important support zone if the stock pulls back.
AI Infrastructure Opportunity
Super Micro is expanding its role in large-scale AI infrastructure through complete data center systems that combine servers, cooling, power, storage, networking and software.
Staiger said the company sees a potential $2 trillion to $4 trillion addressable market and estimates Super Micro currently holds about a 10% share.
The company can produce about 6,000 racks per month, split between liquid-cooled and air-cooled systems. It is also adding manufacturing capacity, including in Johor.
Super Micro said its integrated systems strategy could support double-digit gross margins by increasing the company’s content in each deployment. Its software and services business generated $538 million in fiscal 2026 and carries higher margins than hardware.
