Transaction fees and Median transaction fees
What is Transaction fees
The total amount of transaction fees over the selected period is expressed in US dollars.
Why are Transaction fees important?
The metric reflects overall demand for block space and the intensity of network usage. Growth in total fees can indicate increasing network activity and competition for inclusion in a block. The native-currency measure reflects the internal network economy, while the USD version allows assessment of the economic scale of fees over time and comparison across different blockchains.
What is Median transaction fees?
The median value of transaction fees expressed in US dollars, reflecting the typical transaction cost for users.
Why are Median transaction fees important?
Median fees reflect the typical user cost level, removing the influence of extremely high or low values that can materially distort the mean. Unlike the mean fee, the median shows what a "typical" participant pays and is not skewed by individual transactions with abnormally high fees.
The native-currency metric helps analyze the fee structure within the network, while the USD value makes costs comparable over time and across different blockchains.
