BRSM uses an optimization process to invest in small- and mid-capitalization US companies. The process balances expected returns against risks associated with individual issuers, industries, sectors, market capitalization, and volatility. The stock selection process combines fundamental research, which assesses an issuers financial condition as well as market, economic, political, and regulatory conditions, with quantitative analysis that evaluates valuation, price and earnings momentum, and earnings quality. To construct the portfolio, these inputs are integrated into a blended rating system used to identify attractive investment opportunities. The strategy seeks to maintain a tracking error of approximately 2% relative to its benchmark. As an actively managed fund, the portfolio managers have discretion to adjust the portfolio.
