Gold (MGC) Intraday Plan: Trading the 4H Structural Reactions

75

Trading in the middle of a range is the fastest way to get chopped up. The highest probability setups don't happen in the noise; they happen at the extremes. Here is the current intraday framework for Micro Gold (MGC), focusing purely on higher-timeframe structural reactions.

1. The 4H Context (Chart 1)
Before dropping down to execution timeframes, the boundaries must be set. The 4H chart clearly outlines our current operating range, defined by strict supply and demand zones (marked by the dashed boxes). The overarching momentum has been heavily to the downside, but we are currently consolidating between a major 4H floor and a lower-high ceiling. I have absolutely no interest in taking trades in the void between these two zones.

2. The 15m Execution Plan (Chart 2)
Dropping down to the 15m chart, the game plan is strictly mechanical. I am sitting on my hands until price interacts with either the top or bottom 4H boundary. Once price reaches a zone, I am looking for one of two specific reactions before executing:

Scenario A: The Sweep (Liquidity Grab)
If price pushes into the 4H boundary just enough to trigger retail stop losses, but fails to close outside of it (leaving a long wick on the 15m), this is a sweep. Once the aggressive rejection is confirmed, the play is to fade the move and target the opposite side of the structural range.

Scenario B: The Breakout (True Momentum)
If price smashes through the 4H boundary with heavy volume and closes a full 15m body outside of the zone, the structure has officially shifted. However, I do not chase the breakout candle. I will wait for a mechanical pullback to retest the broken zone before entering with the new trend.

The Takeaway:
Stop trying to predict every 15-minute candle in the middle of the chart. Mark your 4H extremes, establish your higher-timeframe bias, and let the market show its hand at the edges. Patience pays the daily target.
