Demo features on TradingView
A demo account is a risk-free environment where you can practice trading using virtual funds. It lets you test strategies, learn the platform, and build confidence before trading with real money.
Whether your broker offers a demo account or not, TradingView provides several tools to help you practice trading in realistic market conditions. You can test your strategy, refine your approach, and build confidence before committing real capital — all without leaving Supercharts.
CONTENTS:
Bar replay
Bar replay simulates past price movements. It helps you in refining strategies by analyzing historical market behavior and practicing trading decisions without real financial exposure. It provides an interactive way to improve your trading skills and gain insights from historical market behavior.
To open bar replay, find the "Replay" button on your chart's top panel — it looks like a video rewind button.
Select a starting point, hit "Play," and watch your strategy unfold on historical data.
Why bar replay
Bar replay can help you explore the past and think ahead for the future with the following benefits:
- Refine your strategy with historical price analysis and simulated trading
- Learn with simulated real market conditions and practical insights into how strategies perform
- Gain historical insights with past price movements uncovering patterns and trends that inform trading decisions
- Develop trading confidence and experience through risk-free practice without real financial exposure
- Pause your replay session at any point and return later to continue from the exact same place, with your previous settings preserved
Strategy report
Strategy report is a tool for testing your trading ideas. Indicators display data and signals on the chart, while strategies automatically generate a result report.
It supports built-in strategies, community strategies, and your own created with Pine Script or those you’ve saved to favorites.
The strategy report opens automatically when you add any strategy from the Indicators menu and shows how your trading system would have performed on historical data. Only one strategy can run on a chart at a time.
Why strategy report
Strategy report turns your trading ideas into measurable results. Instead of guessing whether a strategy works, you can see how it would have performed historically and where its strengths and weaknesses lie.
- Backtest trading ideas on historical data before risking real capital.
- Measure profitability with metrics such as net profit, profit factor, and win rate
- Evaluate risk using drawdown, run-up, Sharpe ratio, and Sortino ratio metrics
- Compare against buy-and-hold to determine whether active trading adds value
- Analyze individual trades through detailed records of entries, exits, profits, and losses
- Build confidence with data by evaluating performance across hundreds or thousands of historical trades
Paper trading
Paper trading is a trading simulator that lets you practice in live market conditions using virtual funds instead of real money. It's a great way to apply both your technical and fundamental analysis as you build confidence and deepen your understanding of the financial markets.
Also known as demo trading, paper trading lets you practice buying and selling assets using virtual funds.
To activate your paper account, head to Supercharts and click the "Trade" button in the top-right corner. It’ll open the list of brokers available in your region. There, you will see the paper trading icon — the feature is available to all TradingView users.
Then click the icon → "Connect" → and you're all set.
Why paper trading

The Leap
The Leap is TradingView's recurring paper trading competition that lets traders test their skills using virtual funds in live market conditions.
It provides a structured way to practice trading, evaluate strategies, and gain experience without financial risk. You can track your performance, refine your approach, and compare your results with other traders.
Each edition typically runs for approximately two weeks, with registration opening before the competition begins. All trades are executed in real time using simulated accounts, and participants are ranked on a public leaderboard based on their performance throughout the event.
