IBFR combines developed international equity exposure with an options framework designed to help cushion market declines. The fund invests in large- and mid-cap companies outside North America and uses FLEX put options that seek to provide protection against the first 10% of losses across rolling one-year outcome periods. The buffers are staggered and refreshed quarterly, resulting in overlapping protection windows instead of a single reset cycle. To generate option premium that helps fund the put protection, the fund sells short-dated call options, which limits part of the upside in stronger markets. Because the options reference a price return benchmark, dividends are not included in the protection calculation. Buffer levels are determined at NAV when contracts are initiated and are intended to apply at expiration, so entry or exit timing may lead to different effective protection levels. Losses beyond 10% would not be mitigated, and expenses reduce the net outcome.
