The Desjardins Active Canadian Bond Universe ETF employs an active management strategy that combines fundamental and quantitative analyses to identify and optimize investment opportunities. It primarily invests in a diversified portfolio of Canadian fixed income securities, including government bonds (federal, provincial, and municipal), corporate bonds, asset-backed securities, and other investment-grade instruments with a DBRS credit rating of BBB or better. To enhance returns and diversification, the ETF may also allocate up to 25% of its net assets in foreign securities, up to 5% in high-yield bonds, and up to 10% in other investment funds, including index ETFs. A currency hedging strategy may be employed to ensure that at least 90% of fixed income holdings remain denominated in Canadian dollars. Additionally, the fund applies a General Exclusions approach, avoiding investments in issuers involved in certain restricted sectors or activities.
