Selling scripts on TradingView: FAQ

Answers to common questions about selling indicators and strategies on TradingView. The full rules are in the Terms of Use (Section 23), the Invite-only Script Rules and the Creator Program terms.

Key dates

  • November 15, 2026: you can convert private invite-only scripts into public ones, at any time from then on.
  • December 1, 2026: private invite-only scripts with more than 5 users can't get new users or updates until you convert them or they're back to 5 users or fewer.
  • February 1, 2027: seats start. Until then, keep selling and granting access as you do today.

Selling in the TradingView Marketplace

Joining

Who can apply?

Anyone with an active Premium or higher plan and at least one public invite-only script, whether you sell outside TradingView today or not. Apply on the Creator Program page.

Will every application be approved?

No. We're selective about who offers indicators and strategies in the Marketplace, and we review every application.

What does the review look at?

Your TradingView account, your scripts and how you present them, honest descriptions, and compliance with our House Rules, Script Publishing Rules and Vendor Requirements.

My application wasn't approved. Can I reapply?

Yes, 45 days after the decision. Meanwhile, you can sell through your own channels.

Are there country restrictions?

Yes. Authors from some regions, including Iran, North Korea and Russia, can't join because of legal restrictions.

Do my scripts need to use Pine Script v6?

No, but we recommend it. Updating an existing script already requires v6.

What you can sell

What is a Paid Space?

A subscription to a bundle of up to 50 of your public invite-only scripts, plus posts for your subscribers.

Where are Paid Space scripts shown?

In TradingView's public feeds: Community scripts and the Indicators dialog on the chart. Other invite-only scripts aren't shown there.

Can I sell single scripts, several tiers or several Spaces?

Today it's one bundle per author. Multiple price tiers in one Paid Space are on our roadmap.

Can I edit my Paid Space after it's live, for example to add scripts?

Yes. Email us at creators@tradingview.com with the change, and we'll update it after a moderator review. We're working on letting you edit the name and description and add scripts yourself; each change will still be reviewed by our moderators before it goes live.

Can I sell lifetime or one-time access?

No. The Marketplace sells monthly subscriptions only.

Which billing periods are available?

Monthly today. Annual plans are next.

Can I set my price?

Yes. If you change it, the new price applies to existing subscribers from their next billing cycle. Keeping existing subscribers on their price is on our roadmap.

Can I charge different prices in different countries?

No. Buyers pay with the same methods they use for TradingView plans, including regional ones.

Can I offer free trials, promo codes or complimentary access?

Not yet. All three are on our roadmap. Meanwhile, you can grant access to any of your invite-only scripts yourself, for example to testers or partners. Each person you add takes a seat.

Selling in both places

Can I sell in the Marketplace and through my own channels at the same time?

Yes. Marketplace buyers don't take seats. People you grant access to yourself do.

Do my prices have to match?

No. You set your Marketplace price and your other prices independently.

Can I move my existing customers to my Paid Space?

You don't have to. Access you granted before February 1, 2027 stays valid until its end date, so customers can finish their current period and then subscribe in your Paid Space. Access can't be transferred, and payment details can't be moved, so each customer subscribes themselves. Promo codes, which are on our roadmap, will help you offer them a discount when they switch.

My script is part of a course or community I sell elsewhere. How do my customers avoid paying twice?

Keep selling the bundle through your own channels and grant access on TradingView, with each person taking a seat. Or sell the scripts in your Paid Space and the course separately. Webhooks that tell your services about new subscribers are on our roadmap.

Buyers, payments and payouts

Who can buy?

Any TradingView user, free or paid. Subscribing is currently available on the web version of TradingView only.

How do I get paid?

Payouts are monthly, in USD, through your Partner Program account, with a settlement period of up to 30 days. Payouts requested by the end of a month are typically sent within the first 2 weeks of the next. The minimum withdrawal is $100.

PayPal doesn't work in my country. What can I do?

You can request a wire transfer instead. Email us at creators@tradingview.com.

What's the fee?

The platform fee is currently 0%. We'll give advance notice before any change.

Who handles taxes?

VAT and sales taxes are added at checkout where required. You're responsible for taxes in your country of residence, and we may ask for tax forms.

A team built the script. Who gets paid?

Payouts go to the account linked to the Paid Space. Splitting them is up to the account owner.

Customers

Who handles refunds?

TradingView. Subscribers can request a refund within 14 days of a payment. TradingView handles refunds, and you can't dispute them. Refunded and charged-back amounts are deducted from your earnings.

How do I onboard new subscribers?

Set up a welcome email for new subscribers. It's sent when someone subscribes for the first time or comes back after cancelling, not on monthly renewals. It's plain text, with a subject of up to 60 characters and a message of up to 600, and can include links, for example to your manuals or community. You can also publish posts for your subscribers in your Paid Space. Webhooks that tell your own services about new subscribers are on our roadmap.

What subscriber data do I get?

Your Paid Space has a list of your active subscribers, with their usernames and links to their profiles. Your Paid Space stats, earnings and withdrawals are in the Partner Dashboard.

Can subscribers rate and review my Paid Space?

Not yet. Reviews and ratings are on our roadmap.

What happens to subscribers if a Paid Space closes?

They keep access until the end of their current billing period. After that, their access ends and they aren't charged again.

Selling through your own channels

Getting started

Who can sell scripts through their own channels?

Anyone with an active Premium or higher plan. Publish your script as a public invite-only script, sell it wherever you like, and grant access to your customers on TradingView.

I've never sold scripts before. Can I start now?

Yes. You don't need an existing customer base or any approval. Publish a public invite-only script, follow the House Rules and grant access to your customers. Your plan includes 100 seats. If you'd like your scripts shown in TradingView's public feeds, you can also apply to the Marketplace.

Where can I sell?

Anywhere: your website, Whop, Stripe or another store, social accounts, direct messages, courses, mentorships or paid communities. TradingView doesn't take part in these sales and doesn't need to know your price.

Can I sell as a company?

Yes. The account can belong to a company, and the rules are the same as for individuals.

How do I grant access to a customer?

On your script's page, use Manage access to add or remove users. From the end of December 2026, our API can do the same automatically.

Do I have to move my customers to the Marketplace?

No. Selling through your own channels is one of the three ways to sell, not a transition period. You can also sell in the Marketplace at the same time. If you do, access can't be transferred to your Paid Space: each customer subscribes themselves.

How seats work

What is a seat?

Each person with access to your invite-only scripts takes one seat while their access is active. Your Premium or higher plan includes 100 seats.

Do customers I already have take seats?

No. Access you granted before February 1, 2027 doesn't take a seat, including lifetime access and access without an expiry date. It stays valid until its end date. If you extend someone's access or give them another of your scripts on or after February 1, they take a seat from then on.

Does adding another script to an existing customer take a seat?

A customer takes one seat, however many of your scripts they can access. If you granted them access before February 1, 2027, giving them another script on or after February 1 means they take a seat from then on.

Does shortening someone's access or removing a script take a seat?

No. Only extending access or adding a script does.

When does a seat free up?

As soon as the customer's access expires or you remove it. You can give the seat to someone else straight away.

I sell monthly subscriptions. How do seats work for me?

Each subscriber takes a seat while their access is active. If they don't renew, their access ends and the seat frees up.

I sell lifetime access. How does that work?

Lifetime access granted before February 1, 2027 never takes a seat. Lifetime access you sell from February 1 takes a seat for as long as the customer has access.

Does a customer who bought my Paid Space take a seat?

No. Marketplace buyers never take seats. If you also grant that person access yourself, for example to a script that isn't in your Paid Space, that access takes a seat.

My customer has access to scripts from two vendors. Whose seat is it?

Each vendor counts their own customers. The customer takes one seat with each vendor.

My customer changed their TradingView username. Do they take a new seat?

No. A username change doesn't affect their access or their seat.

Paying for seats

What does it cost?

Your Premium or higher plan includes 100 seats. Each extension adds 100 seats and costs $300 a month, plus tax where applicable. There's no fee per subscription and no prepaid balance.

Example: I have 150 customers. What do I pay?

If all 150 were granted access before February 1, 2027, nothing: they don't take seats. If 150 people take seats, your plan covers 100 and one extension covers the other 50, so you pay $300 a month.

Can I buy fewer than 100 extra seats?

No. Extensions come in steps of 100.

How is an extension billed?

All your extra seats are one monthly subscription. Each 100 seats add $300 a month, so 200 extra seats cost $600 a month. There's no limit on how many seats you can add. If you cancel, your extra seats stay active until the end of the paid month. You can request a refund within 14 days of a payment.

Will I know when I'm running out of seats?

Yes. You'll see how many seats you use, and we'll warn you before they run out.

What happens when all my seats are taken?

Nobody loses access. You just can't give access to anyone who would take a new seat until you add an extension or a seat frees up.

What happens if I have more users than seats?

This can happen if you cancel or reduce your extra seats, a payment fails or your plan ends. Nobody loses access, but you can't add users or extend anyone's access until you're back within your limit. To get there, remove users or add an extension.

What if my plan ends or I move below Premium?

Your 100 included seats end with it. Nobody loses access, but you can't add users or extend anyone's access until you have enough seats again.

Will the price change?

If we ever change the price of seat extensions, we'll tell you in advance.

Can I use several accounts to stay under 100 seats?

No. You can have more than one account, but you can't split the users of a script across them, for example by publishing the same script on two accounts and dividing its users between them. Accounts used this way can all be banned without prior notice.

Free access, trials and giveaways

I give a few friends or testers free access. Do they take seats?

Yes, from February 1, 2027. Everyone with access takes a seat, paid or not. A few people fit easily within the 100 included seats.

I share a free script with hundreds of people. What should I do?

Publish it as a protected script instead. Anyone can use it, your source code stays hidden, and it doesn't take seats.

I have a free version and a paid version. Do I need seats for both?

Publish the free version as a protected script so it doesn't take seats. People with access to your paid invite-only script take seats.

Can I offer free trials?

Yes, of any length. A trial takes a seat while it's active and frees it when it ends.

I'm a broker, exchange partner or IB, and I give a script free to clients. What changes?

The same rules apply: each client with access takes a seat. If you have many clients, consider a protected script, or buy extensions.

Can I give access as a reward, for example for meetups or holding a token?

Yes. Each person with access takes a seat while their access is active.

Courses, communities and partners

My script is included in my course, mentorship or paid community. What do I do?

Keep selling it as you do. Grant access to your students or members on TradingView. Each one takes a seat while they have access, and your plan includes 100. When someone's membership ends, remove their access and the seat frees up.

Another educator includes my script in their program. Whose seats are these?

Yours, because you grant access to your script. Each of their students takes one of your seats. When a student's program ends, remove their access.

My script is bundled with another service, like signals, alerts or software.

The same: each person you grant access to takes a seat.

Stores and automation

I sell through Whop, Stripe or my own website. Can I keep doing that?

Yes. Remove access when a subscription ends or is refunded, so the seat frees up.

Will there be an API to grant and remove access?

Yes. We're building an API that lets your store or website grant and remove access automatically. We plan to release it this quarter, by the end of December 2026.

Private invite-only scripts

What are private scripts for now?

Testing, personal use, custom work for a single client and sharing with partners. Each private script can have up to 5 users, and you can create up to 5 new private scripts a month. Their users take seats.

I sell through a private script with more than 5 users. What should I do?

Convert it into a public script. You can do this at any time from November 15, 2026, including after December 1. Converted scripts are reviewed by our moderators like any public script. From December 1, 2026, private scripts with more than 5 users can't get new users or updates until you convert them or they're back to 5 users or fewer.

Will my users keep access when I convert a private script to public?

Yes. Converting a script keeps its list of users.

What if moderators find a problem with my converted script?

We'll do our best to solve any issue together with you rather than remove a script that has active users. Scripts with severe violations, such as scams or illegal content, are still removed immediately.

I do custom work for one client. Can I keep it private?

Yes, as long as the script has 5 users or fewer.

I sell source code, not access. Does this affect me?

No. Seats only apply to access to invite-only scripts.

Your scripts and publications

Will my invite-only scripts appear in TradingView's public feeds?

Only if they're in a Paid Space. Paid Space scripts are shown in Community scripts and the Indicators dialog on the chart. Your other invite-only scripts stay on your profile.

Can I link to my store, course or community?

Yes, on your profile. On a script's page, links are allowed only in your author signature, not in the description or comments.

What rules do my scripts have to follow?

The same House Rules, Script Publishing Rules and Vendor Requirements as Marketplace scripts. We monitor scripts sold outside TradingView, and scripts with violations, including misleading users or giving them false information, are removed.

Can I hide old scripts I no longer sell?

Yes, if no one has access to them. Message PineCoders in TradingView Chats.

Someone copied my paid script. What can I do?

Report it to our moderators, who review copies under the House Rules.

Co-marketing

Can I pay less if I promote TradingView?

Co-marketing partnerships that lower or remove the fee are by our invitation only, and we don't take applications. We reach out to vendors with a real track record who promote TradingView and bring new customers to it. Conditions are agreed case by case.
