I've been using the Interactive Brokers integration in TradingView, and the experience has been deeply disappointing. If you're considering connecting IBKR to TradingView, be warned: the integration is plagued with serious reliability issues that can cost you real money. Stop-losses that don't work. On several occasions, my stop-loss orders for long buy positions were completely ignored. The price blew right past my stop level without triggering, leaving me exposed to losses I had explicitly tried to prevent. A stop-loss that doesn't stop losses is worse than useless — it's dangerous. Edits to stop-loss levels get rejected. Many times I've edited my stop-loss levels only to have the broker ignore the change, throwing the warning: "Stop loss order disallowed after triggered" — even though the order was clearly still active. The order state shown in TradingView and the order state at IBKR frequently seem out of sync, and there's no reliable way to know which one is accurate. Constant maintenance warnings. The broker constantly warns that it's in maintenance mode, and I'm supposed to "be careful." If a platform needs a permanent disclaimer about its own reliability, that tells you everything about its stability. One login, one tab — and that's it. Worst of all: I can only be logged in to one TradingView tab, the Interactive Brokers webpage, or the phone app at a time. The moment I open another tab or check the mobile app, my session gets kicked. This is completely useless for anyone who needs to monitor positions across multiple screens or devices. Every other broker manages simultaneous sessions without issue — IBKR's session handling feels like it's stuck in 2005. Bottom line: The TradingView–Interactive Brokers integration is buggy, unreliable, and actively hostile to how real traders work. Until the stop-loss handling is fixed, the order sync issues are resolved, and multi-session support is added, I cannot recommend this integration to anyone.
The best broker for serious traders, after getting familiar with the UI, which is not very user friendly and can certainly get polished, you have everything you need for trading.
connection to TV is awful and the stock restrictions are constant.
I dont like that I can not modify, view take profit and stopp loss in my positions

Thank you for sharing your feedback, we are glad to see your rating reflects an overall positive experience with the platform. You can adjust supported take profit/stop loss (TP/SL) brackets directly on the chart by dragging them to the desired price level. TradingView does not support adding position brackets after the parent order is executed. For more specific guidance on viewing or modifying TP/SL orders please submit a support ticket with TradingView: tradingview.com/support/solutions/43000648248-how-to-get-in-touch-with-the-support-team/

Logging in and out is painful and high margin requirements

Thank you for sharing your experience and detailing your concerns regarding the login and logout process, as well as the margin requirements you have found to be high. Margin requirements are determined by factors including product type and rules of the exchange on which the product is listed. For more information on methodology for the calculation of margin requirements, please see our FAQ page: interactivebrokers.com/faq?id=1163246142

not a good interface with Trading View

Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding the interface experience with TradingView. Without additional detail on the specific issue encountered, such as order execution, charting, or connectivity, it is difficult to identify the exact circumstance to address. Please submit a support ticket with TradingView (tradingview.com/support/solutions/43000648248-how-to-get-in-touch-with-the-support-team/) referencing this review, including the specific feature or function involved, so the team can investigate further.

Its an awful broker, you need permissions to do literally anything and those permissions take long quizzes and ages for you guys to get back to me . You can't short or use leverage . They don't let you do anything if you don't have any experience or millions lying in your account.

Thank you for sharing your feedback and detailing your frustration with the trading permission process as well as the restrictions on shorting and leverage you encountered. Trading permissions for products involving leverage or short selling are set for risk management purposes. We are unable to confirm specific details regarding your account permissions here. We recommend submitting a webticket with Client Services so the status of your permission request can be reviewed further: interactivebrokers.com/en/support/customer-service.php?p=contact

i do not like the way it interacts with tradingview, the stop and limit orders only trigger about 28% of the time, there is a lag about 30% of the time when placing orders which i thought was only when markets are busy but it is random. I have an 8gig internet connection with a trading computer dedicated to its own dedicated vlan and i also trade 2 other brokers and the speed and accurancy of the other 2 brokers are spot on and the stops execute flawlessly

Thank you for the detailed technical breakdown of the TradingView integration issues, specifically the limited stop and limit order execution and lag occuring with order placement. Please submit a support ticket with TradingView (tradingview.com/support/solutions/43000648248-how-to-get-in-touch-with-the-support-team/) referencing this review, including the specific order types, symbols, and approximate times affected, so the team can investigate the execution and routing logs directly.

I like the features of interactive brokers. What I do not like is the connectivity. There's far too often where I lose connection. I do like the the low fees And the customer service.

Thank you for the positive feedback regarding the features, low fees, and customer service you have experienced. Connectivity issues can stem from several factors, including network configuration, session timeouts, or platform-specific settings. Please submit a support ticket with TradingView (tradingview.com/support/solutions/43000648248-how-to-get-in-touch-with-the-support-team/) referencing this review, including the approximate times these disconnections occur, so the team can investigate the logs.

Great broker with some annoying flaws. First I want to say I appreciate the best margin pricing in the business and the money market rates on idle cash. Second, are the amount of markets that you can trade. Now to the annoying stuff, I can only have one account open on one device at a time, which means you can't logged in. Next, is the fact that you cannot professionally trade with their dashboard/broker platform, it is a joke. That being said, I signed up for trading view and most of the issues have been solved.

Thank you for the detailed feedback. We are glad to hear that you appreciate the margin pricing and the variety of markets available to trade. Regarding the single-session login restriction that prevents simultaneous access across devices, this is a security design built into the platform. Concerns about the native dashboard's professional trading capabilities can vary depending on which specific tools or workflows are being compared. Since you have noted that TradingView has resolved most of these issues please continue to use the integration. If you would like asistance with the IBKR interface, we recommend submitting a webticket detailing any remaining concerns with the platform. Brokers provide access to financial markets and execute trades. They act as intermediaries between traders and exchanges, providing the necessary infrastructure and tools to place buy and sell orders. They offer services such as order execution, market access, research, analysis, and customer support. Additionally, brokers facilitate the use of leverage, margin trading, and help ensure regulatory compliance, providing traders with a secure environment to trade effectively. Without brokers, individual traders would struggle to access markets and execute trades efficiently.
An order is an instruction for a broker to execute a trade - buy or sell an asset on behalf of a trader. Depending on your strategy, risk tolerance, and market condition, different kinds of orders can be more or less effective, let's see the basic ones.
- Market order. It's a basic type designed to buy or sell an asset immediately at the next price available
- Limit order. Specifies the maximum (for buying) or minimum (for selling) price at which a trader is willing to execute a trade. It's only executed if the price reaches the preset level. There are buy and sell limit orders - they're set to buy/sell an asset at or below/above a certain price
- Stop order. Triggered when an asset moves above or below a certain price level, always executed in the direction that the price is moving. There are stop-loss orders (automatically closes a position at a certain level if the market moves against you) and (initiates a trade when the price breaks a certain level)

Leverage is a mechanism that allows traders to open larger positions with a smaller amount of capital. It basically means borrowing funds from a broker, often multiplying your position size by 5x, 10x, or more. For example, with 5x leverage, a $100 deposit could open a $500 trade with your broker lending you $400 you don't have. It's a popular technique, but remember that while leverage increases potential profits, it also magnifies losses, which is why it's essential to learn how to manage risks.

It's always worth preparing for trades before actually executing them. On TradingView, you can do this with our Paper Trading functionality.
Margin trading means an investor buying an asset by borrowing the balance from a broker. It allows traders to increase their buying power, enabling larger positions with less upfront capital. While it can provide greater market exposure with less capital and amplify potential gains, it also comes with increased risks:
- Increased risk of losses, including exceeding initial investment
- Interest costs on borrowed funds
- Potential for margin calls requiring additional deposits
Make sure to analyze an asset thoroughly and test your strategy on a Paper Trading account to ensure you're ready to navigate these risks.
Commissions in trading are fees that brokers charge for executing trades on behalf of traders. These costs help brokers maintain their platforms, provide essential services, and ensure smooth access to financial markets.

Understanding commission structures is essential for traders, as fees can impact overall profitability. Choosing a broker with competitive rates and transparent pricing ensures cost-effective trading.
