Five Mistakes To Avoid as a New Futures TraderAcross ten trades, a $10,000 account can shrink to $4,000. Each individual trade looks reasonable at the time. The framework to contain them doesn't exist.
Year one is where this pattern takes hold. The losses accumulate before most traders can identify what's producing them. Small structural decisions: position sizing, stop placement, entry timing, compound across sessions in ways that a single-trade review never surfaces.
The search for explanation usually starts with the strategy. Weeks of

Your Best Backtest Might Be Your Worst Strategy - Here's WhyYou built a trading strategy.
You backtested it.
The results look great.
Now comes the dangerous question: Which parameters should you actually trade?
This is where strategy development gets much more complicated than simply finding the settings that produced the highest historical profit.
Optimization isn't about finding the combination of parameters that makes a backtest look best. It's about finding parameters that have a reasonable chance of continuing to work on data the strategy hasn'
NQ Range (09-24-26)This current Churn Zone will produce 1 of 2 moves by year end. Chart will show the 216 day CZ in 2025 and forecast this 2026 CZ out to 12/08, by then we should see a breakout. When that happens look at 34K above as 1st upper and 42K max, in line with 2 prior 150% runs on attached chart.
Lower targets (should selling actually really happen) we can walk down to Mid CZ (29,600) lower CZ (28,500). The real Danger Zone for a major drop is 27,410.

NQ: Weekly Recap and the Map for the Week of Oct 5Week of Sep 28 to Oct 2 on the 1h, then the map for next week.
THE WEEK
Monday's low held all week. Every high and low after it printed at a level that was already on the chart.
Monday: sold from the weekend gap. The low at 30,356.75 swept the Sep 24 low into a stacked 4h and 1h FVG. ES and YM did not take their own lows. SMT.
Tuesday: retested the same 4h FVG and held 15.50 above Monday's low while ES and YM broke theirs. Capped under the 4h bearish FVG. Inside day.
Wednesday: higher low at

My higher-timeframe view on Nasdaq remains BULLISH.
Both the Daily and Weekly structures continue to support the broader bullish narrative, with external buy-side liquidity above the current dealing range remaining a major higher-timeframe objective.
However, before that liquidity is reached, I am monitoring the possibility of a deeper retracement.
WHY I’M WATCHING THE DOWNSIDE FIRST
Although external liquidity remains above, I believe the market may first

NQ weekly: previous week high swept, wait for the close.
New month, and the weekly chart is setting up something worth waiting for.
1. The sweep
This week ran the previous week high at 31,088 and got rejected back below it. Buyside above the old high has been taken.
2. The close decides the path
If this week closes below 31,088, it prints a weekly C2: swept the prior high and rejected.
3. C3 into the weekly FVG
A C2 close opens a C3 next week. Underneath, a weekly fair value gap is forming between 29,990 and 30,352. It confirms on the weekly clo
NQ Targets (09-25-26)Special 2 day view to wrap inside December CZ Post. Pop or drop time for the NAZ at some major KL's. Busy chart, stay with me (hidden tricks).
Of the 1,844 point run from lower channel bottom only 586 came by way of Reg Session. That move just got retested (like and FA retest).
The Diablo (Red Diagonal) appeared to be resistance in the Reg yesterday, which is why it gets jumped in the O/N (typical).
The horizontal lines are TLX's, these are reliable targets and turn zones.

Nasdaq Futures: New Highs, New Margin RatesNasdaq-100 futures have been inching to new highs, and some traders may think a breakout is taking shape.
The first pattern on today’s chart is the tight channel between late August and mid-September. NQ1! escaped that range after the last Federal Reserve meeting, the initial sign a breakout was coming.
Second, that consolidation took place over six weeks along the 50-day simple moving average (SMA). Accelerating away from that SMA could suggest that the intermediate-term trend is getting more

NQ | Bearish FVG in Focus — Waiting for the SweepThe market has been open for around 25 minutes, and price is respecting a strong bearish FVG. It hasn’t reached the midpoint yet, marked at 30,959.
I’m watching for price to sweep above 30,948. If it does, I’ll look for a possible swing failure pattern and see whether the FVG continues to act as resistance.
Upside liquidity to watch
If price moves above the FVG midpoint, the next levels are 30,988 and 31,001. Higher liquidity sits at 31,042, with 31,093 above that. 31,150 is a much less likel
